Comic fans know The Flash is the fastest man alive, but Barry Allen has used his speed to come up with a veritable arsenal of moves at his disposal, using his exceptional powers to protect his city and take down several different kinds of foes. But some of them are a bit darker than others...
Whether its's vibrating so fast that he can phase through walls or running at speeds that allow him to run up walls or on top of water, Barry Allen is able to come up with all kinds of tactics to save the day. However, there is one notable move The Flash uses in the pages of The Flash #11 that would make any Dark Lord of the Sith proud.
Back when the New 52 line of DC Comics was launched, Barry Allen was in a pretty interesting position in his career as The Flash. And by 'interesting,' we mean he had recently faked his own death as Barry Allen in order to divert more of his time and energy into protecting his city. Moving away from Central City proper and into 'The Keys," a rougher part of town in Keystone City that was filled with criminals, Barry hopes to keep his nose to the ground and stop crimes as they happen. As part of his new identity, Barry takes a job at a local bar frequented by the Rogues, a collection of The Flash's more prominent enemies. And it's there that Barry shows what he's willing to do with his speed to stop a villain -- immediately.
The Flash #11 culminates in a fight between Captain Cold and Heat Wave, as neither are very happy with the other (even reboots can't change everything). As their argument grows colder and hotter all at the same time inside the bar, Barry--sorry, "Al" decides to act, suiting up as The Flash. Unable to calm either of the villains down, Flash decides to try a new move, running in small circles around the angered pair of criminals. As he does so, he creates a vacuum, which cuts off the both Rogues' air supply. Deprived of air, the two men are choked into unconsciousness, allowing for the cops to arrive and arrest them -- all without Barry needing to lift a finger.
It stands out among Barry's other speed attacks for obvious moral reasons. Barry used the same strategy to put out a fire in his earliest comic appearances... but using it to 'put out' a human being is something else entirely. Considering Barry's heroic history, seeing him perform the speedster equivalent of Darth Vader's Force Choke -- using the darker side of his own Force to incapacitate rebel scum -- is an unforgettable moment.
Thankfully, it looks as though The Flash doesn't go as far as far as Vader usually would, choking without relent until the victim is killed. He is a superhero with morals after all, and a member of the Justice League. Nevertheless, it's hard to deny that a move like that isn't effective, whether it's coming from the Scarlet Speedster or a Dark Lord of the Sith.
