The Flash: Deon's Relationship To The New Force Explained - Screen Rant

The Flash season 7 brought the Still Force to life as the latest new cosmic force in the Arrowverse through the character of Deon Owens. While Team Flash's Speed Force problem has been resolved, they are now facing a bigger issue. When they revived the speedsters' power source, they accidentally also gave birth to three new cosmic forces. Those became the Strength Force, the Sage Force, and the Still Force. These three entities are recent additions to the DC Universe that are now getting adapted into the Arrowverse. In The Flash season 7, episode 6 "The One With The Nineties", Cisco Ramon and Chester P. Runk get a close encounter with the Still Force.

Cisco and Chester accidentally get trapped in the 1998 version of Masonville after being hit by a Still Force energy wave. The character responsible for that is Deon Owens, who has become the Still Force's conduit as he has the power of time travel. However, Deon's abilities are a bit different compared to other ways that the Arrowverse has dealt with time travel. When the Still Force was created, along with the other New Forces, Deon ended up being its host. However, that's different from how the Speed Force tackles looking like Barry Allen's dead mother, Nora Allen.

The biggest difference between The Flash's "Nora" and Deon is that the latter is simply connected to the Still Force, as opposed to being an embodiment. When the original Speed Force was recreated, it manifested in the form of Barry's mom. The last time Barry engaged with them was in The Flash season 6, when the Speed Force was dying because of Crisis on Infinite Earths. When they reemerged in the season 7 episode "Fear Me", the Speed Force came back as the last form that they had been in before passing away in "Death of the Speed Force."

Deon, however, was still a normal human being before the Still Force picked him as their conduit. That's why when he debuted in The Flash season 7, Deon was using his powers to help himself by going back to a point in his past where things were better for him. Since Deon is an original creation for the Arrowverse, it's unclear where he's going as a character since the writers can take him in any direction. After Deon takes Chester's point in the wrong way, he's now obsessed with the fact that he has the power to change anyone's future and not just his own. Perhaps the original Harrison Wells will somehow be important to stopping Deon as he's also connected to the Still Force.

The Flash season 7 has so far not revealed a lot about the actual entities within the New Forces. Due to the fact that they have conduits that have used their respective powers for evil, that might say something about the Strength Force, Sage Force, and Still Force. Although, since the Strength Force and Sage Force have, according to "Nora", come after them, what if they're not the actual villains here? Cisco even questioned "Nora" why the Still Force, through Deon, hadn't come for the Speed Force. "Nora" simply speculated that the Still Force maybe didn't know that the Speed Force had survived. With the Still Force now existing in the Arrowverse, The Flash season 7 has a lot of mysteries to solve with the New Forces.
