Flash Hints Marvel's Reality is Secretly Connected to the Speed Force - Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers for The Flash #769

The Flash has dropped some major hints that Marvel's reality might secretly be connected to the Speed Force. Over the years, there have been some notable crossovers between DC and Marvel, but now it feels like something that could happen at any moment.

Throughout comic book history, Marvel and DC Comics have only joined forces a handful of times, with stories such as Superman vs the Amazing Spider-Man, Batman and Spider-Man: New Age Dawning, and The Uncanny X-Men and The Teen Titans, among a few others. However, many of these comics have felt jarring as two universes collide without much explanation as to how a crossover is possible, or how these superheroes haven’t met before if they occupy the same version of Earth. According to the latest issue of The Flash, there might be a reason for how a major crossover could go down between the two companies in the future.

In The Flash #769 written by Jeremy Adams with art by Jack HerbertBrandon Petersonand Darko Lafuente, Barry Allen learns something new about the Speed Force. When the Speed Force causes an alien being known as the Dominator to grow into a giant, readers who are also familiar with Marvel’s Ant-Man might notice some interesting similarities to Pym Particles. As seen in The Avengers, Pym Particles have the capability to give people powers across various axis. They have also provided heroes with the ability to journey into multiple other realities. Previously in The Flash, it was acknowledged that the Speed Force was a singular force that spreads across several dimensions of the Multiverse.

Enough time has passed for another Marvel and DC event to captivate fans from both sides of the aisle, and now there is a perfect in-universe reason for it to happen with the Speed Force. When the Justice League met the Avengers in JLA/Avengers, the Flash wasn’t able to locate the Speed Force, but it’s possible he just wasn’t as experienced at the time as he is in current continuity. Ironically, both of the superhero teams’ realities have been destroyed and recreated since the iconic crossover.

With both companies’ recent emphasis on their multiverses, it seems inevitable that they will take advantage of the crossover potential at some point. The often jarring disconnect that has been felt between the Avengers and the Justice League sharing the same panels won’t be the same issue it had been in the past. If the Flash can step into another universe on a whim by accessing the Speed Force, a vast range of stories involving the two beloved worlds of DC and Marvel might be in the cards. It would certainly be a missed opportunity if the multiverse is so expansive, and yet doesn’t incorporate other known fictional realities.
