The Flash Confirms More Crisis Events Are Coming | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

Spoilers for The Flash #769 ahead!

The DC Universe has experienced a number of “Crisis” events throughout their history, and they are not done yet, as Flash #769 revealed that Wally West must go through at least five more Crisis events during his lifetime.

Crisis events in the DC Universe involve some major changes to DC’s continuity, such as the introduction of the multiverse in Flash #123, the multiverse’s first death in Crisis on Infinite Earths, or its rebirth in Infinite Crisis. The most recent such event, Dark Nights Death Metal, saw the multiverse get a second lease on life thanks to Wonder Woman; it also saw the revelation of a greater Omniverse as well. After such a monumental event, the heroes of the DC Universe deserve a breather—but they will have no such luck, as Wally West learns there are more Crisis events on the horizon.

In the previous issue, Wally West decided to retire from being the Flash and challenged his mentor Barry Allen to one last race. However, during the race, Wally disappeared into the Speed Force and found himself in the body of Impulse, a super-speedster from the 30^thcentury, and a descendant of Barry Allen. In the current issue from writer Jeremy Adams, with art by David LaFuente and Brandon Peterson, Flash meets the Gold Beetle, a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle hybrid from the 853^rd century and she informs him that he has five more Crisis events to live through, although no details were given. The Gold Beetle proceeds to tell Wally more about his future before she thinks better of it.

While the Gold Beetle’s comment may have been slightly in jest, it points to some truths: the DC Universe has many such events, and they are almost always tied to the Flash. It was in the Flash’s book that the multiverse was introduced, and he played a significant role in Crisis on Infinite Earths; Barry would return during Final Crisis and helped reshape the universe in Flashpoint, which also sent Wally West into exile. Gold Beetle is also right in that the DC Universe does seem to experience a large number of Crisis events. The question is: when do these other events happen? Darkseid recently revealed his ultimate form, so could this have an impact on whatever the next Crisis event is?

Crisis events are a dime a dozen in the DC Universe, and while Gold Beetle’s comment about their frequency may seem like a good-natured shout-out, it looks as if at least one more Crisis event is on the horizon. If Gold Beetle is any indication it will be up to Flash to solve it and save the multiverse once more.
