Arrowverse: The Flash Villains Ranked, According To Intelligence - Screen Rant

Every good hero needs a proper villain as well - and preferably more than just one. Barry Allen (aka the Flash) has his hands full in The Flash. Throughout the show, he has faced multiple villains, some that have special powers and others that don't. A lot of them presented a real challenge for the young speedster, especially if they endangered the people Barry cares about.

The Flash villains are often a good example that intelligence is even more important than physical strength. Their ability to trick their enemies and team Flash means that Barry and his friends have to try hard to defeat their intelligent opponents. But which one has proven to be their biggest foes?

10 Cicada 2.0

Grace's run as Cicada wasn't so successful. Neither she nor her uncle managed to leave a lasting mark on the heroes, unlike other villains. That's one of the reasons why Grace ranks so low with fans.

She was strong and vicious but just not cunning enough to stick around for long. The heroes got rid of her when they persuaded her younger self to take the metahuman cure - which effectively erased the adult Cicada from existence.

9 Savitar

Savitar had a lot of promise but some fans were disappointed when they found out it was an evil Barry from a future that didn't happen in the end.

Savitar was determined to kill Iris but, even though he managed to get to Iris, it turned out it was H.R. who used the technology to help him transform into the reporter. Savitar was then erased from existence and his ultimate plan failed.

8 Mirror Master

Eva Mccouloch The Flash

Mirror Master is one of the few villains who saw the error of her ways and decided to turn things around. Eva McCulloch was an excellent scientist (just like Ramsey). However, she let her emotions blind her judgment and get the best of her.

She failed to realize she was a copy of the original Eva and she also thought that the best way how to build a new world was to destroy everything - which doesn't seem like such a smart move. Luckily, Eva realized what she was doing thanks to Iris and Barry and left to live in the Mirroverse.

7 Bloodwork

Ramsey Rosso was an excellent scientist and by all rules, he should rank higher. However, his ongoing obsession with his project, once he became Bloodwork, meant that he didn't always come out on top in his encounters with the heroes.

He was able to infect Barry for a time and control him but other than that, Ramsey doesn't seem to come up with the best of plans.

6 Killer Frost

Killer Frost might not be as smart as her less-icy alter ego, Caitlin Snow, but that doesn't mean she's not intelligent. In fact, Killer Frost is cunning enough to be able to defeat multiple enemies. She would have succeeded in killing Barry at one point if it wasn't for Cisco's speedy intervention.

However, it looks like Killer Frost might have made a serious error in judgment by giving herself over to the authorities in the most recent episode. It remains to be seen whether this was a smart move from her or not.

5 Captain Cold

As one of the fan favorites among villains, Leonard Snart (aka Captain Cold) underwent a serious transformation in the Arrowverse. Fans have seen him go from a villain to an antihero, who sometimes works with the Flash, to a hero.

Captain Cold was able to orchestrate multiple heists and he was the brains of his team. When he joined the Legends of Tomorrow, later on, he proved he was a hero when he sacrificed his life to save the team in the first season's finale.

4 Zoom

Just like another evil speedster on the show, Zoom was able to fool Barry and the rest of the team into trusting him. He pretended to be the heroic Jay Garrick, but he eventually showed his true colors.

Zoom's most successful plots (besides fooling the team and dating Caitlin who trusted him) include stealing Barry's speed and later killing Barry's dad.

3 Gorilla Grodd

Some fans might find it difficult to take Gorilla Grodd seriously because of his CGI look. But Gorilla Grodd is nonetheless one of the biggest challenges the team Flash has ever faced... and not just because of his size.

Grodd's intelligence, which can predict the team's next moves as well as his telepathic abilities, ensured that he would survive any battle with the Flash and his friends.

2 The Thinker

Clifford DeVoe (aka the Thinker) is one of the most formidable villains the Flash and his team have ever faced. Unlike other villains, who focus on building their physical strength, the Thinker was using his intelligence against Barry and the team. And he was so successful in doing so, the team had trouble figuring out how to defeat him.

They managed to do it in the end, partially thanks to Ralph's shape-shifting powers. However, the Thinker did manage to get Barry imprisoned for murder, which was hard on the young speedster.

1 Reverse-Flash

With all due respect to the Thinker, there's only one villain who deserves the first place - and that's none other than Eobard Thawne (aka the Reverse-Flash). He masterfully manipulated Barry and the whole team into trusting him. He was the driving force behind Barry's transformation into a superhero.

Thawne also managed to kill Barry's mother and manipulate Barry's and Iris's daughter Nora into working with him. But, by far, his most impressive feat is that he keeps coming back, keep surviving even though other villains on this list are long gone.
