The Flash Dropped a Major Insult to Justice League's Cyborg - Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Flash #769!

In the latest issue of The Flash, Wally West just accidentally insulted a core Justice League member, Cyborg. The issue follows Wally on the next step in his journey across space and time. This time, he's stuck in Bart Allen's body, in the future. Everything kicks off as a super-sized Dominator attacks Wally and Gold Beetle. They jump off one of the many futuristic buildings of Central City, landing in Gold Beetle's time ship. It's here where Wally realizes that he has a history with this hybrid of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.

With the help of Barry Allen aka The Flash, Mr. Terrific, and Green Arrow, Wally is assisted as they try to find out what's truly happening. There is a wealth of interesting points brought up in this issue that set up future events, for instance, it confirmed that The Flash will have many more crisis events. That's not what Wally needs to worry about though, as it turns out that his predicament is far worse than they thought.

In The Flash #769 by Jeremy Adams, David LaFuente, Brandon Peterson, Luis Guerrero, and Michael Atiyeh, Cyborg just got hit with an insult that would profoundly hurt if he heard it. On finding out that his body has gone and that he's essentially a ghost, Wally West exclaims "I'm not becoming an android. No way!" Although Wally doesn't mean any harm to Cyborg, he has nothing against him, it's clear that he has a distaste for androids. Or at least, he desperately doesn't want to become one.

This has been something that Cyborg has struggled with for years on end. Recently, Zack Snyder's Justice League attempted to tackle Cyborg's insecurities about his bio-mechanic form. It defines Cyborg as the hero he is, he wouldn't be the superhero he is without his mechanical body. Clearly, it's Cyborg's biggest problem that he's always had anxiety about. So, with Wally freaking out so hard about the potential of his consciousness being transferred in an android, it comes across as an insult to all who take such a form.

It's not the fate worse than death that Wally believes it to be. He's extremely scared about what his wife would say, he even goes as far as saying he'd prefer to stay a ghost. Ultimately, the retired Flash will probably get his body back after his journey is done. But his backhanded insult to Justice League's Cyborg may come back to bite him if he were to express his views to any other android.
