The Flash’s Big Bang Theory Easter Eggs Pay Tribute To Sheldon - Screen Rant

The Flash's Cisco Ramon seems to be a fan of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory - who in turn is a big fan of the Flash. While everyone makes pop culture references on The Flash, no one can beat Cisco, with his love of comparing every situation to something from movies, comic books, or TV.

This personality trait also manifests itself in Cisco’s t-shirts. He loves a shirt that shows off his nerdiness, whether via a science joke or a pop culture reference (in one case, Cisco's shirt even caused him to have an existential crisis). Watching out for what shirts he’s wearing in each episode has become a game for fans of the show.

The gang in The Big Bang Theory are big fans of the Flash - so much so that in one early episode they accidentally all wore identical Flash costumes for Halloween. Sheldon is the biggest fan, however, having worn several shirts over the years with pictures or and references to the famous DC superhero. From the beginning, Cisco has had shirts that reference Sheldon and his particular nerdiness, as a mirror to The Big Bang Theory's own tributes. Here are Cisco's Big Bang Theory T-shirts so far.

Bazinga!

Yes, Cisco has really been a fan of Sheldon from the beginning. Back in the pilot, before Barry has even become the "Red Streak," Cisco is wearing a “Bazinga!” t-shirt. There’s no ambiguity here, as “Bazinga!” is Sheldon’s catchphrase and no one else’s. This shirt also hints at where Cisco got the design language for Barry’s Flash costume from. The lightning pattern on the shirt resembles the lightning bolt that Cisco puts on Barry’s costume.

The shirt itself takes inspiration from the comics version of The Flash and there are constant Flash references in Big Bang Theory, so there may be a bit of a paradox here: if The Big Bang Theory is a show in the Arrowverse before Barry Allen actually was the Flash, then is there also a fictional Flash that their version of The Big Bang Theory is referencing? It doesn’t make the most sense in-universe, but it’s a fun reference anyway.

Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock

This one isn’t necessarily a Big Bang Theory reference, as the game “Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock” goes back to at least 2005 (via The Times of London). Big Bang Theory was responsible for popularizing the game, though, and since this appeared in the pilot that also had the “Bazinga!” shirt, this is probably meant as a Big Bang Theory reference.

“This is my Spot!”

Sheldon is very insistent on having his spot, often saying some variation on “This is my spot!” when someone else tries to take his place on the couch. While Cisco hasn’t shown any particular preference for one spot in STAR Labs over another, it’s not like that would stop him from making a good pop culture reference.

Since both shows were produced by Warner Bros. Television, it’s no surprise that The Flash and The Big Bang Theory, shows on different sides of the nerdy TV spectrum, would make references to each other. While there’s never been any outright acknowledgment on The Flash that Cisco particularly likes Sheldon Cooper, his T-shirt collection speaks for itself.
