The Flash: 'Flash City' Is Actually Hell Disguised As Heaven - Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers for The Flash #752 below.

The Flash has found himself in a plane of existence where everything seems perfect. His mom is still alive, as are his fallen friends, while an entire city, dubbed 'Flash City' is dedicated in his honor. However, things aren't as they appear as Barry Allen quickly realizes.

Barry ended up in a seemingly new reality following his battle with Paradox. The crisis-energy wielding villain used his powers to send the Flash away. Barry woke up after the fight and was met by his dead mom. He shares a hug with her and is shown 'Flash City,' which honors the Flash and his accomplishments. It's basically everything he could ever ask for in one spot. But, Barry quickly sees through Paradox's guise.

In The Flash #752 by Joshua Williamson, Howard Porter, Hi-Fi, and Steve Wands, the Flash ends up in the picture-perfect reality.  'Flash City' features a giant statue honoring Barry Allen, with other Flash's also are recognized. As he runs into friends, both fallen and still alive, Norah Allen tries to convince him to "stop running" and that he's earned time in 'Flash City.' Barry doesn't buy the reality for one second as he realizes there's no vibrational frequency in the city, and that it's all a construct created by Paradox. Barry vibrates to break free of the illusion, revealing that he's actually in one of Paradox's mirages.

Flash Paradox Reality

If 'Flash City' represented heaven, then Paradox's actual reality represents hell. There's skeletons everywhere, as it's clear the villain has used the hell to trap his enemies. Not wanting to join the many corpses surrounding him, Barry tries to figure out a solution to getting out. Allen's energy is drained for every moment he's in Paradox's dimension. Barry uses abandoned tech, like the kind the monster uses on his armor, to build a new suit that prevents his power from being leeched.

Thankfully, Barry's new suit works and he's able to move through Paradox's dimension freely without losing precious energy. Using the tech left from the fallen prisoners, Barry builds his own computer to figure out a way to beat Paradox - realizing that in order to do so, he'll have to travel back in time and team-up with his biggest villain (and the person responsible for his mother's death) Eobard Thawne, aka, the Reverse-Flash. Working with Thawne indicates just how much trouble the Flash is in - it's literally his last option, as the Reverse-Flash supposedly ends Paradox's reign in the future. Although, it sure seems the Flash is about to trade one hell to another.
