The Flash: Harrison Wells Could Be the Odd Man Out Next Season - CBR - Comic Book Resources

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "Death of the Speed Force," the latest episode of The Flash.

One of the many staples of the Arrowverse has been the teams that surround the titular heroes. It all started on Arrow when John Diggle and Felicity Smoak joined Oliver Queen in his crusade to save Starling City. Then, as other shows joined the franchise, each hero followed suit and gathered a group of friends and allies around them to help them in their missions. But as the Arrowverse has grown, so has the number of members on each team, especially on The Flash.

Season 1 saw Barry Allen team up with Cisco Ramon, Caitlin Snow and Harrison Wells to fight crime in Central City. In subsequent seasons, the aptly named Team Flash added Joe, Wally and Iris West and several alternate versions of Wells. Though some characters have come and gone, for most of the show's run, Team Flash was a tight-knit family that rivaled any team in the Arrowverse. However, things began to change in Season 6.

Team Flash and Diggle

Going into the latest season of The Flash, Wally had moved on to travel the world, Sherloque Wells returned to his Earth and Nora West-Allen was erased from existence, leaving a small hole in Team Flash. The show decided to fill the gap with Nash Wells, another version of Barry's former mentor, Allegra Garcia, a metahuman who works with Iris at the Central City Citizen and Chester P. Runk, a socially awkward scientist who gained a social-media following due to his ability to cobble together complicated machinery out of junk.

At first, the new cast members appeared to be role players who would help with some of Season 6's minor stories. However, The CW recently announced both Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight, who portray Allegra and Chester, respectively, have been upped to series regulars for Season 7. With Team Flash gaining two more full-time members, it's hard to see a scenario where the group comes out of this season intact.

Pariah Crisis on Infinite Earths

And the most likely member of Team Flash to exit after Season 6 is Nash Wells. During "Crisis On Infinite Earths," Nash was transformed into Pariah after freeing the Anti-Monitor from his confinement. After the Paragons saved the multiverse and helped Oliver birth the new Earth-Prime, Nash was able to return to adventuring but still carried the guilt of being complicit in destroying the rest of the multiverse.

Those events led to Nash being haunted by different versions of Harrison Wells, including Harry and Sherloque. Nash's horrors came to a head in the episode, "Grodd Friended Me," when he has approached by Sherloque only to see his doppelganger begin vibrating and his eyes turn red, signaling the coming of the Reverse-Flash. And in the most recent episode "Death of the Speed Force," it was revealed that the Reverse-Flash had taken over Nash's body.

With the roster of Team Flash growing, there isn't enough room for the everyone to stick around, so the return of Eobard Thawne could very well mean the end of Nash, and in turn, Harrison Wells on The Flash.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/CT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
