The Flash 5 Pairings That Would Make A Lot Of Sense (& 5 That Would Be Awful) - CBR - Comic Book Resources

Flash is currently the most popular speedster in all of comics. In terms of Justice League heroes, he's just as popular as some members of the Trinity. Fans can't get enough of the Flash.

Barry Allen is interesting in every possible way, from the nature of his powers to the fascinating roster of villains he fights. Even his day job as a forensics officer is wildly intriguing. One aspect of Barry that fans also latch on to is his romantic life. It's fun to imagine what other heroes might, in fact, be a great fit for him. Here are the five Flash pairings that make a lot of sense and five that would be awful.

9 Make Sense: Zatana

One of the universes most skilled magic users, Zatana, would make a great match for Barry Allen. Their powersets couldn't be more different in nature. Their personalities, however, are much more similar than many comic book fans might have realized.

Zatana enjoys being a superhero. She loves her powers. Outside of her battles against many of DC's greatest threats, she spends much of her time as an onstage magician. Barry loves being the Flash in much the same way. This shared love of their abilities would make them a great pair that would have a lot of fun exploring their powers together.

8 Awful: Catwoman

Catwoman Artgerm

Former cat burglar and longtime Batman flame, Catwoman, would certainly not be a good pairing with the Flash. Catwoman loves a bit of mystery and adventure. She's drawn to the tall, dark, mysterious types like her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Batman.

Barry Allen's Flash is almost the exact opposite of Batman. He talks way too much, revels in the glory of superherodom, and wear very bright colors. Catwoman would not be pleased with any of these attributes.

7 Make Sense: Supergirl

Supergirl loves being the hero. She takes after her cousin, Superman, in many interesting ways. Currently, Supergirl is the heir apparent to Superman's legacy and will no doubt one day usurp him as a symbol of hope.

For the citizens of Central City, the Flash also serves as a symbol of hope. Much like Supergirl, he relishes that responsibility. Together, they'd help each other carry the burden of such massive responsibilities.

6 Awful: Harley Quinn

A former sociopathic murderer turned hero, Harley Quinn isn't exactly the best catch in the DC superhero community. Any hero with any sense would not want to associate with the former partner of the Joker.

The Flash is no fan of mentally ill former murders, especially if they helped a murderous psychopath reign terror on innocent people for decades.

5 Make Sense: Batgirl

A tech nerd by day and caped crusading vigilante by night, Batgirl certainly brings a lot more fun to the Bat-Family. Unlike many of the other bat-characters, Batgirl is not the dark and brooding superhero with a ruthless conviction to stop crime.

Flash isn't anything like that either. He loves being the adulation that comes with being a hero. You're unlikely to find the Flash creeping in the shadows at night. He'd rather be seen in the spotlight. Batgirl and the Flash would get along great because of this reason. As an added bonus, it probably helps that they're both nerds as well.

4 Awful: Huntress

The daughter of mobsters who were murdered by their rivals, Huntress has carried the darkness with her for her entire life. Armed with a crossbow, Huntress has made it her mission to mercilessly kill criminals prowling the streets at night.

The Flash isn't exactly a fan of killing. Huntress, on the other hand, is fully willing to murder her enemies. This difference would absolutely tear this possible pairing apart.

3 Make Sense: Jessie Quick

Another superhuman with incredible speed much like Barry Allan is Jessie Quick, who would make for a great pairing with the scarlet speedster. It's not just their powers that these two characters share in common, however.

Jessie Quick is a hero in the classic sense. She simply does what's right and enjoys helping people. Both her and the Flash just want to make the world a better place, and they'd much better be able to do so as a couple.

2 Awful: Black Canary

A dark and gritty street-level hero, Black Canary is used to having to do things the hard way. Whether she has to track down a mysterious lead or beat a criminal scumbag to a pulp for some answers, Black Canary is willing to do whatever it takes to find justice.

When it comes to being a vigilante, the Flash is much less hardcore. A bright symbol of hope for the people of Central City, he simply cannot afford to cross into the morally grey areas that the Black Canary lives in. She would only serve to be a bad influence on the Flash.

A long lost character in the annals of DC history, Ms. Flash was actually there at the time of Barry Allen's accident. Perhaps she could use a more creative name, but other than that Ms. Flash was actually a very fun character to include in the Flash mythos.

When Ms. Flash was first introduced, she was a very fun character. With a little bit of a modern update to her, she could still make for a compelling character. Given that they both got their powers in the same accident, Barry Allen and she would no doubt get along great.

1 Awful: Wonder Woman

Brutal warrior and member of the Amazons, Wonder Woman doesn't take crap from anyone. Because of that, it would be more than a bit difficult for her to be in a romantic relationship with Barry Allen.

As the Flash, Barry Allen has a hard time taking anything very seriously. He's often known to be one of DC's most prominent quippers. Wonder Woman doesn't exactly share this personality quirk. She'd much prefer to do the talking with her fists. This difference would make for a terrible relationship.
