The CW is officially delaying the airings of the next two episodes of both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Fans of the Arrowverse shows are no strangers to the network having a set number of hiatuses for the respective seasons every year. In the case of the time-traveling drama, each season has fewer episodes than the other shows. Most go with 22 while Legends of Tomorrow has an 16-episode order. The same case goes for Black Lightning which recently finished airing its third season, given its short episode order. Even though it's normal to have mini-breaks, this season has been heavier for fans of the DC dramas.
With this year's election, as well as the coronavirus pandemic, the TV and film industries have been affected in releases, production, and airings. For The CW, Warner Bros. TV officially suspended filming for the ongoing seasons of The Flash, Supergirl, and Batwoman last week. With no word on when the suspensions will lift, it's directly affecting the ongoing work with the last block of episodes that have to be completed. With filming, as well as pre-and-post-production being delayed, it now appears it will affect the airings of the already completed episodes.
Per CBR, The CW has shaken-up the airing schedule for the next two episodes of The Flash as well as Legends of Tomorrow. The 16th episode of the Grant Gustin-led drama, titled "So Long and Goodnight," was originally going to air on March 31, But due to the network's scrambling, it has now been delayed until Tuesday, April 7. The 17th episode will supposedly air on Tuesday, April 14. For Legends of Tomorrow, next week's episode "Zari, Not Zari" will now be replaced with a repeat of "A Head of Her Time" and will air on April 7.
For the 10th episode "The Great British Fake-Off," which would have aired on March 31, a repeat of "Mortal Khanbat" will air in its place. The Flash episodes that are now delayed will have respective repeats of "A Girl Named Sue" and "Grodd Friended Me." While it hasn't officially been stated that it's due to the spreading virus, it's most likely the case. While Legends of Tomorrow season 5 has wrapped filming, there may be post-production left to be completed, which could affect the airing schedule. Similarly for The Flash, which has an unspecified amount of episodes left to film, the domino-effect could come into play here too.
It remains to be seen if Supergirl and Batwoman will have their schedules affected in the coming Sundays. But given that it's already beginning to affect two of The CW's DC shows, it's highly possible that repeats will be replacing original episodes. It's even uncertain how the ongoing pandemic is going to affect production for upcoming Arrowverse shows like Superman & Lois, which has a straight-to-series order for the fall. With the studios and networks following the situation closely, fans of The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow will hopefully know sooner rather than later how the next couple of weeks will look in terms of airing.
