Former Flash Movie Director Possibly Throws Shade At Ezra Miller - Screen Rant

Former The Flash movie director John Francis Daley appears to throw shade on star Ezra Miller after a video of him fighting a woman went viral. Warner Bros. and DC Films have been attempting to get a solo Flash movie off the ground for years, but the development has seen several directors enter and exit the project - including Daley and his writing/director partner Jonathan Goldstein. The one constant through the entirety of The Flash's development has been Miller sticking aboard as Barry Allen after appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

With a director attached and release date set for The Flash, progress on the long-awaited movie finally appeared to be happening. But, that was before a video surfaced online of Miller choking a woman and slamming her to the ground. Miller's actions have understandably been the subject of heavy criticism ever since, but he has yet to make a statement about the video. That hasn't stopped people around the world sharing their thoughts on what he did, and that appears to include the former The Flash co-director.

Shortly after the video began to make headlines, Daley sent out a cryptic tweet that seems to be directed at Miller. The tweet simply said "creative differences," which is the usual explanation for why creative teams exit projects in Hollywood. Based on the timing of this tweet, though, Daley implies that the differences that led to his and Goldstein's exit were directly related to Miller. See the tweet below:

Prior to Daley and Goldstein exiting The Flash, there were reports that Miller was clashing with them over their vision for the Scarlet Speedster. Miller was more interested in a "darker" take on The Flash (likely closer to what Zack Snyder pitched him originally), while Daley and Goldstein compared their version to Back to the Future. These differences ultimately led Miller to write his own script in an attempt to convince WB to move The Flash in that direction, while the studio considered recasting Miller if he still had issues with Daley and Goldstein's vision. In the end, Miller's script wasn't chosen but the studio didn't recast him either, leading to Daley and Goldstein leaving the project.

Now, Andy Muschietti is attached to direct The Flash, which at this moment still has Miller lined up to star. It remains to be seen what WB and DC will do now, though, as the video is quite troubling. There is plenty of time before The Flash movie's 2022 release date to find a new actor to take on the role, but that could also mean WB is moving on from Miller in Fantastic Beasts 3 as well. It's also worth noting that there is a chance WB will still keep him around if/when he issues a public apology. Whatever they decide to do, it is clear now that the opposing views by Miller and Daley and Goldstein for The Flash were legit.
