Cyborg actor Ray Fisher recently discussed his admiration for Rick Famuyiwa and how he wanted to see his version of The Flash.
To pass time during quarantine, Cyborg star Ray Fisher has been holding Twitch streams where he can interact with fans and answer any questions they might be forthcoming with. Inevitably, questions regarding the Justice League and the DC Extended Universe come up, with Fisher trying his best to give fans the scoop they’re hoping for.
In one of his latest streams, the Cyborg star was asked his thoughts on Rick Famuyiwa’s take on The Flash. Famuyiwa joined the Ezra Miller project in the summer of 2016, fresh off the heels of his critically acclaimed film Dope, which Ray Fisher even mentions in the stream. Unfortunately, Famuyiwa left the project over creative differences just a few short months later. When asked by a fan on the stream for his thoughts on the shelved take on the beloved speedster, the Cyborg actor reveals that he didn’t know much about Famuyiwa’s take on The Flash, though he was excited to see it.
“Rick’s Flash? I mean, Rick is a really dope dude. Not to throw the title of one of his movies out there, but like, he is absolutely dope. And I don’t know a whole lot about what it is that he was planning, but I would have loved to have seen what he was coming up with on that end.”
Ray Fisher’s excitement for Rick Famuyiwa’s take on The Flash is palpable as he is one of the few indie auteurs who was signed on for the DCEU prior to the Justice League’s release, which caused the studio to reshuffle and recalibrate their slate. It’s interesting how the Cyborg actor reveals that he didn’t know much about the project, though that may just be because it wasn’t his solo movie.
Since leaving The Flash, Famuyiwa went on to direct two episodes of The Mandalorian, which proved just how capable of a director he is. Currently, the Ezra Miller project is being headlined by It director Andy Muschietti from a script by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson. As for Cyborg, his solo film’s release date came and went earlier this month. Currently, there’s no information as to when Ray Fisher will be reprising the role of Cyborg on the big screen.

Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie was on track to begin production next month, but its start date will likely be delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint storyline. For those unaware, the Flashpoint comic book storyline followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.
The Flash is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 1, 2022.
