BAY CITY, MI - Drivers will want to be aware of an upcoming change to a traffic signal on Wilder Road as the Bay County Road Commission looks to study traffic flow outside the shopping mall there.
The Road Commission announced that the traffic signal at the intersection of Wilder Road and the Bay City Town Center entrance, near Bob Evan’s restaurant, and the entrance to the Art Van furniture store, will no longer operate in a normal red-yellow-green cycle.
Instead, the signal will be reset to operate in a flash-mode only, with a yellow-flash being set for Wilder Road traffic and a red-flash for both the Bay City Town Center and the Art Van Furniture and Soldan’s Pet Supplies accesses.
The change will start at approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, March 16 and the flash-mode will be held on the lights 24/7. The change is expected to last for 90 days, according to the Bay County Road Commission.
The Bay County Road Commission will be using this 90-day period to conduct a traffic pattern evaluation as a part of a plan to optimize traffic flow along Wilder Road. The change is not associated with Art Van’s liquidation plans.
Directions regarding the change can be directed to the Bay County Road Commission’s website by using the “Citizen’s Connect” feature in the upper left-hand corner. Select “Traffic” on the right-hand side, then select “Traffic Signal”, then select “Submit a Report” at the bottom-right, fill in the fields and select “Report It” at the bottom-right to send a question to the Road Commission.
