Although Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West has appeared in Grant Gustin’s The Flash since the second season of The CW series, new artwork pictures Riverdale star KJ Apa taking on the mantle as the modern version of the hero. Grant Gustin’s The Flash is inspired by the New 52 version of Wally, but the original iteration of the speedster was brought back after Doctor Manhattan meddled with the universe in DC Rebirth. The new artwork shows off what Riverdale star KJ Apa could look like if an alternate version of Kid Flash debuted on the show.
Following KJ Apa’s rise to fame after starring in Riverdale as iconic redhead Archie Andrews, fans have debated whether he’d make a good alternate take on Wally West for Grant Gustin’s The Flash. The new artwork from “spidey_force” on Instagram gives Riverdale star KJ Apa a costume that combines elements of an early Grant Gustin suit mixed with Kid Flash’s mask. Grant Gustin’s The Flash continues this week with the episode “Death of the Speed Force.” Here’s the official synopsis:
WALLY WEST SPEEDS BACK INTO CENTRAL CITY – Kid Flash (guest star Keiynan Lonsdale) returns to Central City with a Zen attitude and new tricks up his sleeve. While thrilled to see his family again, Wally confides to Barry (Grant Gustin) that he returned because he thinks there is something wrong with the speed force. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) returns from his fact-finding mission across Earth-Prime. Brent Crowell directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Emily Palizzi Gilbert (#614). Original airdate 3/3/2020.
