The Flash season 7, episode 8 won't be airing on The CW on Tuesday, April 20, as it is on a hiatus. Following Arrow, The Flash is currently the longest-running Arrowverse show out of the ones that are on air. Like most TV shows to be affected by the global pandemic, The Flash season 6 didn't finish its remaining block of episodes, which is why it carried over into the seventh season. After the first three episodes concluded the Mirrorsaga, The Flash moved on to introduce the New Forces from the DC Universe.
Ever since The Flash kicked off its new format with the concept of the graphic novels, as showrunner Eric Wallace calls it, the series can do more things instead of just focusing on one big bad for 22 episodes. While The Flash is still facing the challenges with shooting new episodes during the pandemic, production has, for the most part, been progressing well. They have already gotten to the 14th episode of The Flash season 7, directed by Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost herself, Danielle Panabaker. While The CW has been running The Flash consecutively since March, fans are about to get the first break.

The Flash season 7, episode 8, "The People Vs. Killer Frost," will not be airing on Tuesday, April 20, due to the show being on a three-week hiatus until Tuesday, May 4. Typically, every new season of the Arrowverse drama premieres in October and goes on a break before getting to the end of the first half of the season. Unlike Superman & Lois, The Flash's gap doesn't seem to be related to COVID-19, as the latest spinoff had to go on an extended delay until May 18 after airing the first five episodes. For The Flash, a temporary stop after running six-seven episodes is natural.
The Flash post-production team can continue to finish the work on episodes they have finished filming so far by having a few weeks off-air. When they resume the seventh season, they will have more episodes in the can to air. When episode 8, "The People Vs. Killer Frost," airs on May 4, it will deal with the aftermath of the icy villain-turned-hero having given herself over to the authorities. The Flash season 7 has many exciting things to look forward to, with David Ramsey's John Diggle scheduled to appear for an episode. While it's unclear when he will pop up, Wallace has hinted that they will be addressing the ambiguous Green Lantern ending for Diggle the Arrow series finale set up.
Ramsey will also sit in the director's chair as he will helm an unspecified episode of The Flash this year. The Arrowverse also has something special planned for The Flash season 7, episode 17 that also serves as the show's 150th episode. Jordan Fisher will be running into the DC drama as Bart Allen, a.k.a. Impulse, as the future son of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. Bart, who will be a recurring guest, arrives and will be part of helping Team Flash take on their biggest threat yet. While it is undoubtedly a bummer for The Flash to be gone for almost a whole month, the seventh season still has a lot in store when they return on Tuesday, May 4.
