Before the events of "Crisis on Infinite Earths," The Flash introduced an element from the Shazam mythos into the Arrowverse in the form of Eternium, particles of which Nash Wells detected on Iris West-Allen. While said particles on Iris were never brought up again during the rest of Season 6, nor did they seem to lead to anything at the time, The Flash's Candice Patton admitted that she wondered if this potential plot hole has any meaning.
When asked if the aforementioned Eternium particles would "come back into play in any way" on the series, Patton replied, "That’s a great question. I remember shooting that and thinking, 'This is cool! What does this mean, if it means anything?' And I don’t have an answer for that, so it will be interesting to see if we revisit that and see what that little nod was about."
Debuting in 1998's Legion of Super-Heroes #110, Eternium is an element composed of the matter from the Rock of Eternity, the home of the wizard Shazam, which was spread across the multiverse upon its destruction. Aside from harming anyone who makes physical contact with it, Eternium is also able to block Shazam's power due to its mystical nature.
Returning to The CW for its seventh season in 2021, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin and Danielle Nicolet. Production aims to restart this month.
