Regarding the article “Oregon leaders squandered years on jobless benefits computer upgrade. Now the project’s future is again in doubt” (Aug. 5): Shame on the governors, Employment Department managers and legislative oversight committees for permitting such a catastrophic lapse in system improvement to persist for years. The system for payment of benefits has served employers, out-of-work people and the Oregon economy reliably for decades. Who pays for the lapse? Those rightfully claiming and not receiving benefits, but not those who have been horribly irresponsible.
