HIGHLIGHTS

CURRENT SITUATION

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee updated news media this evening on the ongoing situation in four Tennessee counties – Dickson, Hickman, Houston, and Humphreys – impacted by catastrophic flash flooding on Saturday.

Emergency operations in the impacted counties are transitioning from a response posture as local officials begin planning initial damage assessments, and search and rescue teams turn toward recovery work.

A boil water alert remains in place for the city of Waverly as its water treatment facility remains offline. Multiple bridges and roadways in the impacted area are still closed. Telecommunication services are gradually being restored. Local power outages are down to 3,000 in Humphreys County, 170 in Hickman County, and 100 in Houston County. Electrical Power is fully-restored in Dickson County.

Humphreys County schools will be closed for the rest of this week with reports of approximately 40 to 50 school buses damaged from flood water.

FATALITIES

The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 16 weather-related fatalities in Humphreys County as of this evening. This total is preliminary and pending further updates from local medical officials. No further details are available at this time.

• The Reunification Center at McEwen High School, 335 Melrose St. in McEwen, Tenn., will open on Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The American Red Cross has set up a Flood in Tennessee online resource on www.safeandwell.org where flood survivors can register and let family and friends know they are safe.
