Iris is front and center in a new poster for The Flash season 7. It has been three months since fans last saw Iris in the season 6 finale, "Success Is Assured." Although new seasons usually begin in the fall season, fans will be waiting to 2021 to see the conclusion of the Mirror Master arc.
Iris has always been a central character on The Flash, and her role has grown larger. Unfortunately for her, she spent a good chunk of season 6 being trapped in a "mirror" dimension. Iris was replaced by a mirror duplicate, courtesy of Eva McCulloch. So, for a majority of the season, the characters interact with mirror Iris as she works to achieve Eva's goals. Everything comes to a head in the final few episodes, when Barry realizes his wife was replaced. In the end, mirror Iris is destroyed while Eva escapes the mirror dimension. The real Iris remains trapped. Big things are coming up when The Flash gets to wrap up its unresolved story.
A poster for The Flash season 7 has been shared, teasing the return of Iris. The visual is bold and vibrant, with the tagline, "Heroes will be reborn." Although it was a sad time for Iris in the recent season, that doesn't look to be the case coming up. Check out the poster below.
It's not surprising to see The CW marketing Iris heavily here. Although she certainly wasn't inactive, she was forced to mostly be passive as her doppelganger roamed free in Central City. Passed the Mirror Master storyline, it's hard to say what role she will have. Interestingly, a season 7 synopsis says her marriage with Barry will be threatened. Not only that, but whatever Barry unleashes will also threaten the team. It's hard to say how beating Eva will lead to this. Fans will have to wait and see how it plays out.
There are a lot of unknown things about season 7. According to showrunner Eric Wallace, season 6's shortening will affect season 7's storytelling. Two things confirmed is the return of Godspeed, who has had a story building since the beginning of season 6, and the Reverse-Flash. Just those two things alone means a big season. It'll be the longest gap between seasons, but The Flash will likely return as popular as ever. But, will Iris and Barry's marriage truly be threatened? After the characters' turmoil in season 7, fans are probably not ready for any more tugging at heartstrings.
