‘The Flash’ 7×14 Recap: “Rayo De Luz” - The Series Regulars

This season of The Flash has certainly had us missing the action that mainly surrounded Barry and this episode was no exception. For the most part, Barry was not part of the action as both he and Iris were on a romantic getaway. This meant that Team Flash was on its own.

What this meant was that Allegra was left to work on her own investigation into Ultraviolet. She is still searching for her cousin Esperanza, not willing to give up on her and to get her the help she needs. Esperanza has been on assassination missions and is back in town, going after the doctor who made her into who she was.

Sue Dearbon returned as well, at first believing that they couldn’t help Ultraviolet. In her eyes, it was a lost cause. There was no way they could get Ultraviolet to change her ways. We soon find out the reason she feels like this is because of her parents. Despite getting them out from under the grip of Black Hole, they are still deep into the lavish lifestyle that Carver provided them.

However, Allegra still believes in family and wants to save her cousin, with or without anyone’s help. With Chester out of commission after an attack from Esperanza, Allegra is on her own as she goes to find Dr. Olsen and Esperanza. Eventually, Sue decides to come and help Allegra, fending off guards while Allegra makes a final attempt to get to Esperanza.

Esperanza attempts to attack Allegra, but Allegra’s deep love for her family allows her powers to strengthen and she is able to stop her. Getting Esperanza back to S.T.A.R. Labs, Allegra shows her that she won’t give up on her.

While the road to getting Esperanza to that place of redemption might be an uphill battle, Allegra certainly has the drive to help her through it. This is all due to her seeing how Barry never gives up on trying to get through to the humanity deep down in whoever he is trying to subdue.

In the meantime, Joe continues his own dive into Kristen Kramer’s background. It looks like she was part of the ambush that claimed the lives of her team members. However, after a tense confrontation, Kristen calls Joe to meet her. She admits to him that she was not part of the ambush, but it was someone close to her.

Adam Creyke, who grew up with Kristen and was like a brother to her, had tried to convince her to sit out the mission. He didn’t want her to get hurt, but she had no idea he was betraying them. Joe agrees to help Kristen find Adam, although we’re still unclear about what her end goal is.

For one, she is still out to force a cure on the metahumans in Central City. So how would Joe helping her find Adam stop her from continuing her mission? We hope Joe is not making a mistake in helping her.

The episode then reintroduced us to Mark Chillblaine, who is out of prison again. But this time…for good? Frost is certainly not amused by this information.
