The Flash Season 7 Needs To Fix Allegra — By Using Her Metahuman Powers - Screen Rant

The Flash season 7 has an Allegra problem, but one that can be fixed if the show just stops ignoring her metahuman powers. Ever since her Arrowverse debut in season 6, Kayla Compton’s Allegra has possessed the ability to manipulate electromagnetic energy.

After joining the show, Allegra was associated primarily with Iris (Candace Patton) and some of the other female characters in the cast. By working with Team Citizen as a reporter, Allegra didn’t get much interaction with Barry (Grant Gustin) and the heroes at S.T.A.R. Labs, apart from Nash Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Season 7 has since strengthened her ties to Team Flash, with Compton being upped to series regular. Similar to the case with Chester (Brandon McKnight), Allegra has received a considerable amount of screen time, likely due in large part to Barry and Iris taking a backseat in several episodes.

Despite the increased presence Allegra has had in season 7, there remains a problem with how her character is being utilized. For the most part, Allegra has been used to service others characters. She was at the center of Nash’s inner conflict surrounding his surrogate daughter’s death, plus she’s been a strong source of support for Iris. The Flash season 7, episode 14, titled “Rayo de Luz” finally put Allegra front and center, but the show is still holding her back. Allegra has a useful set of abilities that could be of great help to Barry against metahuman threats, but The Flash has avoided using her in this way. She doesn’t even have a costume or a codename yet. Allegra, who does seem committed to helping, feels like she could really work as a full-fledged Arrowverse superhero.

The Flash Allegra Kayla Compton Season 6

Allegra is the one Team Flash character who could be an asset on the field but isn’t. As for why that is, the reason isn’t exactly clear. The Flash season 7, episode 14 offered an explanation for that by revealing that she doesn’t know how to control her powers, but the issue there is that viewers have already seen her weaponize them in the past. She also created a portal to teleport herself and some of the team members at the beginning of the season. Regardless, any problems that Allegra does still have with her abilities should have been dealt with by now. Each new metahuman hero on Team Flash has been allowed a chance to train at S.T.A.R. Labs, but Allegra was unfortunately never allowed that opportunity.

It’s possible that the new energy form Allegra cultivated in The Flash’s latest episode is a step in the right direction, but it’s hard to say at this juncture. Based on her exchange with Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), it seems she doesn’t have control over this either – yet. Hopefully, though, The Flash won’t wait long before giving Allegra way to trigger it at will. With Cisco gone, Barry needs an ally like Allegra more than ever to join him in the action. The void left by Mecha-Vibe could turn out to be Allegra’s chance to shine.
