A new photo from The Flash has introduced Chillblaine, the series' latest cold-based villain.
Played by Jon Cor, the character will make his debut on the series in Season 7, Episode 7, "Growing Pains". The episode will see Chillblaine frame Frost for a "brutal crime," forcing her to find a way to clear her name. When asked, The Flash's showrunner Eric Wallace played down the idea of Chillblaine and Frost -- now that she has a body of her own separate from Caitlin -- entering a romantic relationship on the show. "Let’s see how she deals with having a villain who has essentially the exact same powers," Wallace said. "First of all, that’s gotta be really annoying!”
The official description for The Flash's Chillblaine reads,
Scientist Mark Stevens is a charismatic bad boy obsessed with cryogenic technology. But when he’s not breaking into corporate safes, he’s busy breaking hearts with his irresistible charm and roguish style. Armed with his own cold weapons, he’ll become a new thorn in the side of Team Flash as the DC Comics villain Chillblaine.
Created by Craig Brasfield and Mark Waid, DC Comics' Chillblaine first appeared in 1991's The Flash Annual (Volume 2) #4. The super-villain is traditionally a sidekick and love interest for Captain Cold's sister, Golden Glider, and even uses the same cold gun technology to commit his crimes. There have been four different versions of Chillblaine so far, most of whom were only around briefly being either being killed in battle or abandoned. However, Chillblaine IV was killed by Cold after he murdered Glider and stole her ice-themed gadgetry.
The full synopsis for "Growing Pains" reads,

Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Jess Carson (#707). Original airdate 4/13/2021.
The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
