The Flash Season 7 Targeting August Filming Start | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

The Flash season 7 is aiming to begin production in August. The Flash was one of several Arrowverse shows impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Productions were delayed back in March and left shows like Supergirl and Batwoman unable to complete work on their current seasons. In the case of The Flash, 19 of its planned 22 episodes had been finished ahead of the shut down. Season 6 of The Flash ended with that last episode, "Success Is Assured", on May 12. However, about 90% of episode 20 had already been shot, and it will now serve as the season 7 premiere. Like the rest of the Arrowverse, The Flash is expected to return in 2021.

The Flash season 7 is already facing a major change among its cast members. Earlier this month, actor Hartley Sawyer was fired following the reemergence of past racist and misogynistic tweets. Sawyer joined the show as a recurring player in season 4 before becoming part of the main cast for seasons 5 and 6. He played Ralph Dibny, also known as the Elongated Man. The unintentional season 6 finale of The Flash had set up a major storyline for Ralph with his comic book wife Sue Dearbon (Natalie Dreyfuss), so it's unclear as to how the series will deal with Sawyer's firing.

They're likely still figuring it out now, but this new timeline suggests they might be close to an answer. According to Deadlinea number of Vancouver-based television shows are prepping for late summer production starts. The Flash is expected to start within the August-September timeframe. Fellow CW series Riverdale is operating on the same timeline, while the final season of Supernatural is hoping to get back to work by the end of July.

No updates were provided for additional Arrowverse shows, but they're all expected to return to the CW in 2021. Seeing as all Arrowverse shows are filmed in Vancouver, most will likely follow in The Flash's wake and get back to work around the same time. Of all the remaining shows, Batwoman might take the longest to pick back up again because it needs to cast a new leading actress following Ruby Rose's exit. Nonetheless. with Vancouver opening back up for television shoots, the rest of the Arrowverse is bound to start again soon.

The Flash's season 6 finale left more than a few plot threads dangling, between Sue being framed for murder and Iris (Candice Patton) being lost somewhere in the Mirrorverse. Obviously, this was't where the season was really supposed to end, and the start of season 7 is expected to wrap up those threads. While it won't premiere until 2021, at least fans know The Flash is doing all it can to avoid any further delays.
