The Flash season 8 usually airs brand new episodes for fans on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET. on The CW. Will the show return with a new one this week?
The Flash season 8 ran its way through an evil alien, inexplicable time-travel events and the closest thing the Arrowverse has seen to a crossover since Crisis On Infinite Earths, as it brought Barry Allen and Team Flash into their eighth supernatural adventure in Central City.
The show wrapped its astounding five-episode-event (titled “Armageddon”) at the end of last year, as the Scarlet Speedster crossed paths with heroes from Supergirl, Arrow / Green Arrow and the Canaries, Black Lightning, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and Batwoman.
This all came about when Despero arrived from the future and revealed that the hero was destined to become the world’s destroyer in the future. In the end, however, it turned out that Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash, was behind it all along. And, of course, Barry came out on top, defeating both of them (and getting some shiny new boots in the process)
It was an intense conclusion to the show’s “Armageddon” event. However, will the series be airing a new episode this week?
Is The Flash new tonight, February 22?
Unfortunately, The Flash will not be airing a new episode this week. While Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. has been its allotted timeslot for many years, there won’t be any new installments for quite some time because the eighth season has taken a lengthy hiatus.
Season 8 has run for five episode thus far, all of which were part of the “Armageddon” event. Thankfully, The Flash will return for the main body of its eighth season in the near future.
When does The Flash season 8 return to The CW?
The Flash returns to The CW for its eighth season premiere on Wednesday, March 9, at 8:00 p.m. ET. This is the first time in the show’s entire run that it will move nights, with it now being paired with newcomer CW series Kung Fu, which premieres its second season on the same night.
The show was renewed for an eighth season in February of this year (before its seventh season even premiered) and while there have been rumors that this will be its last season, showrunner Eric Wallace told Deadline that it could go potentially on for “several more seasons” if the network and the actors wish to continue.
