The Flash Prequel Unlocks Barry's Explosive Power Not Seen in the Movies - Screen Rant

As DC’s premier speedster, The Flash boasts a wide variety of powers closely tied to his iconic super speed and unique connection to the mythical Speedforce. From phasing through solid objects to time-travel, it seems like there are truly limitless applications to Barry Allen’s super speed. As The Flash: Fastest Man Alive #2 races on to the market to bridge the gap between Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the upcoming Flash film, issue #2 promises to unlock a downright explosive, never-before-seen power for speedster.

The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive is an ongoing limited series by Kenny Porter and Juan Ferreyra that follows the early days of the Flash’s career in the DCEU. A young Barry Allen must juggle his new responsibilities as a hero, and the ordinary challenges of being an up-and-coming intern at a career he’s passionate about. From the solicit information, it seems that Barry will eventually come to blows with the villain Tar Pit, and this confrontation will force Barry to think of creative ways to use his powers.

The Flash’s super speed grants him several abilities aside from being able to run fast. Over his storied career, Barry Allen has acquired or developed numerous abilities dependent on his super speed. From being able to create tornadoes to time-travel, Barry’s speed has allowed him to truly defy the laws of physics. A particularly potent power is his ability to phase through walls by vibrating his own atoms at the correct frequency to avoid the atoms of other solid objects. While this power has found its way from the comics to other mediums like TV shows, it seemed to have not made the cut into the cinematic continuity’s version of Flash, until now! Here’s the solicitation information for the Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #2 released by Comicbook, along with a look that interior art that artist Juan Ferreyra provided in a Tweet.

Barry Allen's early days as the Flash continue! Barry struggles to balance his new job as a hero with his internship at the crime lab. The pressure starts overwhelming him, literally, when the monstrous molten menace called Tar Pit appears in Central City looking to put an end to the Scarlet Speedster's interference in his family's business! Barry's anxiety kick-starts his powers, sending him phasing through objects with explosive results. Can Barry get a handle on his abilities and stop Tar Pit in his tracks, or will he be tarred and feathered out of Central City for good?

Based on the synopsis, it appears that Barry’s confrontation with Tar Pit will force him to develop not just his iconic phasing power, but an improvement that will make it explosive! While this power was unseen in The Flash’s cinematic appearances so far, its inclusion in the same continuity seems to hint that there is a lot more to the DC cinematic continuity’s Flash than meets the eye and places him on par with his comic book counterpart.

Flash already has an arsenal of impressive powers sourced from his connection to the Speedforce, and unfortunately most haven’t made the cut on to the silver screen. With The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #2, however, Kenny Porter and Juan Ferreyra open the door for one of Flash’s coolest comic-book powers to make an explosive blockbuster premiere.
