Flash star reveals whether he'll return after Stargirl - digitalspy.com

The Flash season 8 spoilers follow.

Arrowverse star John Wesley Shipp has confirmed he will return to The Flash for its eighth season.

Shipp, who famously played Barry Allen in the 1990s Flash TV series, has played both Barry's father Henry Allen and the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick, in the CW series throughout its run.

Fresh off an upcoming crossover stint in fellow CW show Stargirl, Shipp has now confirmed to CBR that he's "going back in about a week and a half to shoot more Flash" too.

The actor has expressed hopes of eventually sharing more scenes with Jordan Fisher's Bart Allen (aka Impulse) following their bond in season seven.

Bart and Barry were forced into an impossible situation last season when Godspeed, a villain from the future, captured Jay Garrick in an attempt to force his nemesis Impulse to surrender.

"I'm not sure exactly what time it will be, but [producer] Eric Wallace and I have discussed having the opportunity to explore Jay Garrick as a mentor that we missed with Wally," Shipp said.

"There was an opportunity with Wally, but we missed it. I would love now to be able to fulfill that playing Jay, that relationship that they set up and that Jordan Fisher set up and the writers set up so beautifully in those last two [Flash] episodes."

The CW

Season eight will be a busy one in Central City because The CW has already announced The Flash will play host to this year's Arrowverse mini-crossover.

Titled 'Armageddon', Batwoman star Javicia Leslie, Supergirl's Chyler Leigh (aka Sentinel / Alex Danvers), Cress Williams of Black Lightning, Brandon Routh (aka The Atom) of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Tom Cavanagh as the Reverse Flash, Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, Kat McNamara as Mia Smoak and Osric Chau as Ryan Choi are all set to be a part of the multi-night event.

These figures from different corners of the Arrowverse are drawn together when a new alien threat arrives with unusual plans for the planet.

The Flash returns to The CW with the five-part 'Armageddon' event on November 16. In the UK, the series is airing on Sky One.
