The Justice League Finally Realize Flash is DC's Most Dangerous Hero - Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers for The Flash #775

The Justice League has finally realized the Flash is the most dangerous superhero in the DC Universe. As Wally West takes on his uncle Barry Allen’s alter ego, he is proving to be an exceptional speedster.

Barry’s time as the Flash has often been characterized as a meme, given the amount of stories in which he rewrote the timeline and caused havoc. Following in his uncle’s footsteps without the same amount of experience, Wally West has the potential to be a chaotic force in the DC Universe. Although he doesn’t have a mom to go back in time to save like Barry did in Flashpoint, Wally is still capable of messing up the timeline through the speed force. A member of the Justice League isn’t taking any chances with the new Flash in The Flash #775, written by Jeremy Adams with art by Fernando Pasarin.

When Mister Terrific realizes the threat that Flash poses to the world, he decides to attack him out of the blue. Terrific is under the impression that Wally West might even be more powerful than Superman, and can’t be trusted with his powers. Soon, it’s made clear that the Glaive is causing Mister Terrific’s misled attempt, mirroring Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight in Batman v Superman when he fought the Man of Steel. “Holt… Michael, what are you doing?” “What I should have done a long time ago. Stop the great Wally West. The man with the special connection to the speed force.” Mister Terrific goes onto explain that Wally’s ability to defy physics has world shattering implications. Terrific’s plan calculates that Wally has a 65% chance of destroying the world someday, meaning that he will be Earth’s greatest hero by eliminating the speedster.

Although this is news regarding Wally West’s Flash, Barry Allen had always brought some level of risk to the DC Universe. Later on, Wally wonders if it was all in Mister Terrific’s mind, and none of what he said held true. Either way, Michael Holt has established a tense dynamic with the original Flash’s successor, which could play a part in the new wave of heroes that are being introduced. As Jon Kent’s Superman relates with Wally as a second generation superhero, there are going to be some who resist such major changes.

Mister Terrific’s explanation for the danger that Wally represents should also be taken as a compliment, as he believes the speed force could resolve a number of world crises. It isn’t the pep talk that Wally once received from Hawkman, but it shows that Terrific takes the new Flash seriously. Wally might think it sounds like an over-exaggeration for Terrific to allege he could be stronger than Superman, so it’s a matter of time until he realizes there could be something to the claim.
