Flash flood watch in effect for Princeton area through Tuesday afternoon - Planet Princeton

A flash flood watch is in effect from 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25 through Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 26 for the Princeton area. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm on Monday.

The flash flood watch includes Mercer, Hunterdon, Somerset, Monmouth, and Burlington counties.

Rain is expected to fall most of Monday night and to continue through most of the day on Tuesday. Rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is likely, with higher amounts possible in some areas. Flash flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, and areas of poor drainage is possible.

Do not drive through flooded roads and don’t drive around barriers. Turn around, don’t drown.

A flash flood watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flash flooding. A flash flood warning is issued when flash flooding is imminent or occurring.
