DC Unveils New Kid Flash in Team-Up with Forgotten Green Lantern - Screen Rant

Warning: contains a preview for Green Lantern: Alliance!

A new Kid Flash is coming to DC's universe in a middle-age graphic novel involving Green Lantern Tai Pham. Green Lantern: Alliance continues Tai's story that began in Green Lantern: Legacy. He will face his nemesis and gain a new ally.

Tai Pham was first introduced in Green Lantern: Legacy in 2020. He is one of the youngest Lanterns and a descendant of another Green Lantern - his grandmother, Kim Tran. His story is part of DC's ongoing initiative to publish more graphic novels for young adults and younger readers.

A new DC announcement has revealed that Minh Lê and Andie Tong, creators of Green Lantern: Legacy, are returning for a sequel. This announcement also includes new preview pages for the graphic novel. Green Lantern: Alliance - which releases next spring - will follow Tai and his latest adventure. It picks up a few months after he receives his Lantern ring and defeats his nemesis, Xander Griffin, who was also introduced in the previous graphic novel. Tai suspects his foe is still up to no good, despite no one else believing his suspicions. However, the young Lantern has a lot more to deal with than just being a new hero. Check out a preview and synopsis for this Green Lantern story here:

It's only been a few months since Green Lantern Tai Pham inherited his ring from his ba and defeated his nemesis, Xander Griffin, but Tai knows their last battle was only the beginning. Even though no one believes him, Tai is determined to prove that Xander is up to his old tricks again.

When a string of fires starts popping up around Coast City, Tai finds himself stretched thin as he struggles to keep up with school, training, working at his parents' store, and following Xander's trail. That is until a new hero, known as Kid Flash, shows up on the scene with an offer to help. Can the heroes find the arsonist before it's too late?

The preview shows Tai with his fellow Green Lanterns Kilowog and John Stewart. It reveals one of the many additional struggles he will face: being a student. It also shows him remembering his grandmother with the aid of his Green Lantern Power Battery. Not shared within these pages are Xander and the new Kid Flash - although this hero is depicted on the cover. She slightly resembles Jesse Chambers, but her age wouldn't line up with Tai's and she usually goes by the names Jesse Quick, the Flash, or Liberty Belle. The only well-known female Kid Flash is Iris "Irey" West, who also goes by Impulse. Neither of these characters line up with the Kid Flash on the cover.

DC is going to have a new speedster teaming up with its new Green Lantern, creating a set of new characters under classic mantles for a new generation of readers. This means the Flash family could be expanding once more. This Kid Flash is definitely going to have a lot to handle, but teamwork has often been the key to DC's heroes saving the day. Tai is going to need all the help he can get when Green Lantern: Alliance releases digitally and physically on April 26, 2022.
