The Reverse-Flash Has Just Become The Flash | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Flash #758

The Reverse-Flash has made his move, assembling the Legion of Zoom to take down Barry Allen, The Flash and Fastest Man Alive. Eobard Thawne has always wanted to be just like the Flash, and in Flash #755, he warned Barry that he was going to form his own family, just like Barry's: A Reverse-Flash Family. This ushered in the Legion of Zoom, comprised of the greatest villains Barry has ever faced. Now, in Flash #758, Barry is surrounded and in real trouble when Thawne reveals the next part of his plan, and it's even worse than the Legion: he's no longer going to be the Reverse-Flash.

The Legion of Zoom consists of Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Glider, Trickster, and the Turtle. Furthermore, they've all been pulled from different eras of time by Thawne himself, working together under the promise from Reverse-Flash that the Flash will never bother them again as well as knowledge of the future. After a massive attack by the Legion, Barry determines that he's going to have to think like Thawne to get ahead of him. Assuming that Thawne would go after his family next, he sends them away before going to the last place he saw Thawne: his childhood home where Reverse-Flash killed Barry's mother, and where Barry recently pulled him out of time to help him defeat Paradox.

While there, Barry is attacked by two new terrible surprise additions to the Legion: The Tornado Twins, Don, and Dawn, his scorned and rogue children from the future. Knocking him out into the street where the rest of Legion is waiting, the villains take turns beating Barry down before Thawne arrives with the next part of his plan. He tells Barry that in his time of the 25th century, he tried to become The Flash, but Barry was impossible to replace. He couldn't really be The Flash, no matter how hard he tried. Deciding that that should change, Thawne vibrates at a specific frequency and then dives straight into Barry.

Just like when Marvel's Doctor Octopus took over Spider-Man's body and became the Superior Spider-Man, Thawne has now taken Barry's body. He is no longer the Reverse-Flash, just The Flash, becoming who he's always truly wanted to be. Leaving the Legion of Zoom behind, Thawne says he has a family to take care of: Barry's family. Meanwhile, Barry's mind is stuck in some sort of limbo (perhaps within the Speed Force?) but he's not alone, getting attacked by what looks to be the corpses of Max Mercury and Jesse Quick.

When Reverse-Flash said he was getting his own family, many fans most likely assumed he was referring to forming the Legion of Zoom. However, now that he's become The Flash, his new family is Barry's, at least until Barry can find a way to break out of whatever state he's trapped in and take control of his body again. How long will Thawne be The Flash? As of now, it's unclear, but hopefully, fans will get their answers soon as The Flash continues.
