Live updates: Flash flood warning for San Antonio area through Thursday - San Antonio Express-News

Update: 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12

The National Weather Service says there is a chance of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night.

There is a 50 percent chance of  thunderstorms on Wednesday and a 70 percent chance of heavy rain by Wednesday night.

The weather service says there is a 60 percent chance that thunderstorms will continue on Thursday.

In addition, the NWS says there is there is a very low chance for a tornado or damaging winds late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, mainly over the west half of our region.

Update: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for San Antonio beginning 7 a.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters say 2 to 5 inches of rainfall are possible with isolated storms producing 5 to 7 inches. This could lead to flash flooding. 

The heaviest rainfall is expected on Wednesday night into Thursday. However, rainfall can't be ruled out Wednesday early morning.

Comal, Medina, Gonzales, Atascosa and Guadalupe counties are all under a flash flood watch.

Tonight, there is a low chance for a stronger storm to develop with gusty winds, heavy rain and small hail in San Antonio.

Update: 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12

A cold front will move into San Antonio late this week, dropping temperatures into the 50s by the weekend, according to The National Weather Service.

Tropical Storm Pamela continues to build strength in the Pacific, off the coast of Mexico, and is likely to become a hurricane that will bring showers to the area. Forecast models vary, however, on projected rainfall amounts.  

Today's high will be 88 with a low of 72. Increased humidity levels on Tuesday will push the heat index to near 100 with rain still likely, according to the NWS.

The impact of Pamela begins Wednesday with heavy showers forecast through Thursday morning. The cold front will hit San Antonio Friday afternoon. 

Expect weekend temperatures of highs in the mid-70s and lows in the low 50s.
