One of Flash's Oldest Villains is BACK With a Vengeance - Screen Rant

A longtime foe of Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash, Doctor Alchemy, will be making a grand return this fall in writer Kevin Schnick (Robot Chicken) and artist Clayton Henry (Alpha Flight)'s debut run of The Flash.

After being imprisoned, in the DC Comics staple Iron Heights Prison complex, for the past few years, Doctor Alchemy has seemingly found an innovative new way to conquer his nemesis Barry Allen once and for all. Late October's Flash #764 of the current series will see Flash and Doctor Alchemy cross paths once again, but only this time with a twist. Not only will Flash and Doctor Alchemy duke it out once again, but Alchemy will have an ace in the hole that may see him become a god. What that ace in the hole is will revealed when the issue releases.

The Flash and Doctor Alchemy have frequently been butting heads since 1958's of Showcase #13 (as Mr. Element). As his name implies, Doctor Alchemy has a vast knowledge of various forms of chemistry and has been on the hunt for The Flash for several years, even joining Barry Allen's favorite group of evil admirers, The Rogues. One of Alchemy's greatest weapons has become the Philosopher's Stone, an ancient magical artifact capable of transmuting other substances as well as transform molecules of the human body.

The most famous alias of Doctor Alchemy has been Albert Desmond, a former forensic scientist for Central City. Alchemy may not be on the same level of fellow Flash villains Gorilla Grodd or Professor Zoom, but Doctor Alchemy is still a worthy opponent for Allen. With his introduction in 1958, Doctor Alchemy has gone from a joke of sorts to more of a formidable threat for The Flash. The character even made a standout appearance in the third season of the popular CW Flash TV series, played by Harry Potter's Tom Felton and voiced by Tobin Bell.

While the Flash and Doctor Alchemy do not always run into one another, it is an event that is not to be missed when they do. Many of Flash's villains are either fellow speedsters or evil scientists, while Alchemy is one of the more left-field antagonists. It is yet to be seen what exactly Doctor Alchemy has been planning for the scarlet speedster while imprisoned or his key to becoming a god, but for Flash fans, October cannot come soon enough.
