Netflix is about to get the latest season of one of The CW's biggest shows as The Flash Season 6 gets a streaming release date. The Flash aired its Season 6 finale this week, which started the countdown until the show is available to watch online in full.
When is The Flash Season 6 released on Netflix?
According to The CW's contract with Netflix, seasons of all of its shows which began before the 2019-2020 TV season come to the streamer eight days after their season finales air on TV. This usually means that The Flash as well as shows like Riverdale, Dynasty and Supergirl come to Netflix toward the end of May.
However, a number of CW shows were forced to end early this year after production was forced to close due to the coronavirus. This, however, was good news for fans of those shows waiting for them to come to Netflix, as it means the episodes are coming slightly earlier to the streamer.
As The Flash Season 6 finale aired on The CW on May 13, its Netflix release date will be May 21. Like the majority of Netflix shows, the 19 episodes are expected to be released after midnight PDT. When the show is released in your country will depend on your time difference from the West Coast, which is currently nine hours behind GMT.
Right now, only the previous five episodes of The Flash Season 6 are airing. These can be found on The CW website and app. Netflix, meanwhile, has the first five seasons of The Flash right now.
The Flash will be the latest of CW's superhero shows to release its most recent season onto Netflix. This follows the final season of Arrow, which came to Netflix in early February, and Black Lightning Season 3, which arrived in March. Also coming soon to Netflix are Supergirl Season 5 (on May 25) and Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 (Wednesday, June 10).
Though Batwoman comes to an end on The CW on May 17 (the same night as Supergirl), the show will not be joining The Flash on Netflix. According to Deadline, the first 20 episodes (cut down from the original 22) of the Ruby Rose series will come to HBO Max in September 2020.
This is potentially bad news for fans of the Arrowverse who missed the franchise's epic Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. Though Episode 1 and 3, 4 and 5 will be on Netflix by June, Episode 2 was technically an episode of Batwoman, meaning that it will not appear on Netflix.
The Flash Season 6 comes to Netflix on May 21.
