Writer Josh Williamson has explored multiple aspects of the Speed Force during his four-year tenure on The Flash. During the "Death of the Speed Force" story arc, Flash utilized a new aspect of the Speed Force, glowing bright gold as he verbally and physically assaults Captain Cold. The transformation looks visually similar to the Super Saiyan forms in the Dragon Ball franchise. Similar to the Super Saiyan form, this form is triggered by emotion.
In an interview with CBR, Williamson says that his final story arc "Finish Line" will see the return of this transformation. "Yeah, he does something in one of the issues where he has a couple more moments of that. Not a lot because I don't want to overdo it, but it does happen."
Williamson also spoke about tackling huge moments as he wrapped up his run. "The stuff that we're doing in 'Finish Line' is really, really, intense, a lot happens in those two issues. I really wanted to make sure I had no regrets on the book and so there's some really, really big stuff that happens in 'Finish Line' that'll make people happy and I wanted to make sure I went out with a bang and was able to tell a really big story with the Flash, the Flash Family and Eobard and say something about Barry by the time we get to that ending."
Williamson's last two arcs on The Flash are "The Legion Of Zoom", which sees several of the Flash's enemies uniting to destroy him, and "Finish Line." "The Legion of Zoom" begins in The Flash #757, written by Williamson and illustrated by Howard Porter.
