The Flash season 6, episode 18 introduced a different version of Godspeed, who possesses new speedster abilities. Godspeed, a white-clad speedster villain as well as a recent addition to DC Comics, was first adapted to the Arrowverse back in season 5 as a villain from the future named August Heart, who battled Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy). In the beginning of season 6, it was revealed that Team Flash had fought multiple Godspeed duplicates off-screen. At the time, it was believed that they were connected to August Heart, but this is no longer the case.
In The Flash season 6, episode 18, titled "Pay the Piper", Barry (Grant Gustin) and his friends encounter a new version of Godspeed, whose goal is to gain "infinite velocity". Barry, greatly weakened by the loss of the Speed Force, is no longer fast enough to fight Godspeed on equal terms and requires help from his allies, and ends up recruiting assistance from a post-Crisis version of Hartley Rathaway (Andy Mientus). After working together, they find a way to stop Godspeed. At the end of the episode, it's mentioned that this Godspeed was also a fake, acting on someone else's behalf.
It's interesting that the new Godspeed is unique to both the robotic duplicates and the season 5 villain, August Heart. First of all, this Godspeed can use his speedster powers to drain the residual Speed Force that still dwells within Barry. Other Arrowverse speedsters, like season 2's Zoom (Teddy Sears), have operated with the same intention, but haven't been able to forcibly take another speedster's energy by their own means. Zoom had to have help to steal Barry's speed. The situation with Godspeed, however, is different. Though he wants Barry to give up his power willingly, he is indeed capable of draining Barry's speed himself.
Another new speedster ability demonstrated by Godspeed is the power to channel his vibrational energy to blast a telekinetic wave of force at his opponents. He was able to use this ability to force Barry backwards, thus immobilizing him. As for the power to drain the Speed Force, this is perhaps his most distinguishing characteristic in DC Comics. In the comics, the villain's mastery of the Speed Force enables him to steal the speed of his fellow speedsters, like Wally West.
Since whoever is creating these fake speedster enemies has the resources to give them unique and powerful abilities, it's worth wondering how dangerous the real mastermind is in the Arrowverse. Right now, this person isn't Barry's primary concern - yet - but his claim that he was sent by someone who wants "infinite velocity" could be the setup for a storyline that will be addressed in The Flash season 7. This character could even be the next main villain that Barry will have to deal with once he figures out how to beat Eva McCulloch (Efrat Dor) and save Iris (Candice Patton) from the Mirrorverse. Either way, this new speedster mystery promises to be an interesting challenge for Team Flash in the future.
