The Flash writer Christina Hodson recently revealed that she was in correspondence with the Arrowverse’s writers over Ezra Miller’s surprise cameo.
DC fans had their minds blown earlier this month when the Arrowverse crossover Crisis On Infinite Earths featured Grant Gustin’s The Flash running into Ezra Miller’s character of the same name from the DCEU. To have both versions of The Flash run into each other was a welcome surprise, but it certainly raised a bevy of questions. For one, fans were confused as to if Ezra Miller’s cameo as The Flash in the Arrowverse crossover was canonical in the DCEU. Beyond that, theories formed, speculating if the Arrowverse crossover will have any ramifications in the upcoming The Flash film.
Another question that presented itself was if the folks over at the DCEU were even aware that the Arrowverse was planning on getting Ezra Miller for a quick cameo. Speaking to Comicbook.com at the Birds of Prey press junket, The Flash writer Christina Hodson revealed that she was aware of Ezra Miller’s appearance in the Arrowverse.
“Of course, cause that would be too much of a surprise if I suddenly saw that on TV.”
As expected, The Flash writer didn’t explicitly mention how the Arrowverse crossover would feed into Ezra Miller’s solo DCEU film. However, it’s encouraging to know that the Arrowverse camp was in correspondence with the writer of the solo Ezra Miller film as that would spell disaster regarding communication. In fact, it’s hopeful for fans to assume that The Flash will reference the Arroweverse crossover one way or another. For all we know, the Arrowverse crossover may just set up the stage for the solo Ezra Miller film.

Since Ezra Miller’s standalone The Flash film was first announced, the project has experienced numerous setbacks. After two separate directors departed over creative differences, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were tapped to helm The Flash before exiting themselves following creative conflicts with Ezra Miller over the tone of the film.
IT director Andy Mushcietti has signed on to direct Ezra Miller’s The Flash from a script penned by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson.
The Flash is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 1st, 2022.
