The CW has released a new teaser clip for The Flash season 7, setting up the important rescue mission that Barry Allen will be taking on in the new episodes. The Flash is one of The CW’s most popular shows on the network and is the cornerstone of its DC programming now that Arrow has concluded, making this premiere a highly anticipated event. The Flash season 7 is premiering later than it usually would, due to COVID-19, but the show is finally set to come back on March 2.

This upcoming season of The Flash will be a big one for the Arrowverse franchise, since it will continue to deal with the fallout of the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. Crisis on Infinite Earths was a turning point for The CW’s DC content and allowed the network to take the shows in a new direction and create spinoff series like the recently-premiered Superman & Lois. The Flash season 7 in particular will follow Barry on his mission from the end of season 6: rescuing his wife, Iris.

In a short clip posted to the official IGN YouTube channel, viewers can see how Barry is putting together his strategy for this all-important mission. As the video description notes, Barry will have to work quickly to save Iris before his speed permanently runs out. He states that he only has a few days left to use his super-speed, if that. What is unique about this clip from The Flash season 7 is that it strikes a different tone than past strategy sessions in The Flash. Usually in the show, the planning sessions with “Team Flash” have a very sci-fi adventure feel, but without the other Star Labs characters around, this scene feels more serious. Once again, The CW is trying to illustrate how Crisis on Infinite Earths was a turning point for all of the characters.

Based on previous trailers, viewers are already aware Barry will be entering the Mirrorverse in The Flash season 7 and continuing his fight against Mirror Master. The question is then, of course, whether Barry will succeed in regaining his super-speed and saving his loved ones. While it’s most likely the season will have a happy ending, it’s also possible The CW is trying to raise the stakes for the Arrowverse, meaning The Flash season 7 may not see Barry completely succeed.
