Flash floods impact roads, residents in Western Kentucky - WSIL TV - WSIL TV

MURRAY, Ky. (WSIL) -- Severe thunderstorms Sunday morning brought dangerous flash floods in parts of Western Kentucky.

Murray resident Jeremy McKeel sent video of flooding happening in his neighborhood. Video shows McKeel driving on flooded roads showing water covering front yards and sidewalks.

A second video, sent by Murray resident Jennifer Bowman-Larson, shows floods covering parts of the intersection of U.S. Route 80 and U.S. Route 641.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office says Wingo Road between Kentucky State Route 2422 and Speight Lane is closed due to a washed out culvert, according to a Facebook post.

The department added the road would be closed for several days and that signs from the Graves County Road Department are in place.

Flash flood warnings are in effect for Calloway, southern Graves, southeast Marshall and Trigg counties until 2:30 p.m. according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.

Flash floods are dangerous to motorists and conditions can change quickly. Drivers are advised not to drive through flooded roadways. More rain and potential for severe weather is expected later this afternoon.
