MALTA — Albany-based Mechanical Technology Inc. says the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency wants it to help pay for $358,000 in cleanup costs at a former government rocket test site next to the GlobalFoundries factory.
In a regulatory filing, MTI says the EPA asked it and other "named parties" to foot the bill, plus interest, for the disposal of abandoned chemical drums and canisters. MTI previously operated at the Superfund site, known as the Malta Rocket Fuel Area, which has been undergoing remediation for years.
