Due to the success of the CW shows, Green Arrow and the Flash have become some of the most popular DC Comics characters of the past few years. While the Flash has always been relatively popular, introducing Green Arrow into the mainstream was a huge achievement by the creators of Arrow.
While the Flash is far more powerful than Green Arrow in terms of ability, this doesn’t necessarily guarantee a win. As shown in several confrontations between Batman and Superman, careful planning can result in a win for the non-superpowered.
10 Green Arrow: Stealth
Green Arrow is one of the most skilled and highly trained fighters in the DC Universe. The Emerald Archer is also more than aware of his own limitations and would try not to be drawn into a full-on fistfight with someone as powerful as the Flash.
Consequently, Green Arrow may rely on his stealth training in any conflict with someone on the Flash’s powerlevel. This would allow him to incapacitate the Flash before the Scarlet Speedster has even been made aware of his existence.
9 Flash: Electrokinesis
The Flash is known for his speed, as his name would suggest. However, a power that may not be as well known among the wider public is his ability to manipulate the electricity that he is able to draw from the Speed Force.
Manipulating this electricity allows the Flash to enhance his strikes, making them more powerful, or to electrocute enemies upon impact.
8 Green Arrow: Strategy
As shown by the Ancient Greek legend of Odysseus, a sharp mind can often defeat even the strongest and most brilliant of foes. While Green Arrow isn’t on the same level of the likes of Batman, this isn’t to say that he couldn’t muster up a strategy capable of bringing down the Flash.
Green Arrow is certainly aware of the Flash’s weaknesses and would be more than capable of building a strategy around this that would result in a victory.
7 Flash: Durability And Stamina
While the Flash’s powers are often seen in reference to his ability to inflict damage upon enemies, they also offer some protections for the Scarlet Speedster. One of the clearest examples of this is his super durability and stamina.
The Flash’s connection to the Speed Force gives him superhuman levels of stamina and durability, allowing the Flash to take large amounts of damage and fight for longer than the average man.
6 Green Arrow: Gadgets
If this was a fight between the Flash and Green Arrow without gadgets, it would almost certainly result in a victory for the Scarlet Speedster. Fortunately for Green Arrow, he is able to access his gadgets in this fight.
As with Batman, Green Arrow’s gadgets would help level the playing field to some degree. His vast array of trick arrows would certainly present a challenge for the Flash.
5 Flash: Reflexes
The Flash’s ability to run incredibly fast is well known, with the Scarlet Speedster capable of traveling back in time due to his incredible speed. However, this speed also gives the Flash superhuman reflexes.
The Flash’s reflexes would make it very difficult for Green Arrow to actually land a hit on The Flash, with the Scarlet Speedster capable of dodging almost all of his attacks.
4 Green Arrow: No Need For A Direct Hit
While the Flash’s super-speed and reflexes may prove to be challenging with respect to landing a direct hit on the Flash, this isn’t necessary to harm the Flash. The Green Arrow has far more than just ‘simple’ arrows in his quiver.
As a result, explosive arrows and the myriad of other archery gadgets would allow for the Emerald Archer to damage the Flash without relying on direct hits.
3 Flash: Ranged Wind Attacks
The Flash’s danger doesn’t just come from his ability to attack from close range; the Scarlet Speedster is also capable of attacking from a distance using his incredible speed to manipulate the surrounding air and wind.
As a result, the Flash is able to use strong wind currents to attack his foes. In addition to attacks, this wind manipulation would also allow the Flash to defend against some of Green Arrow’s range attacks.
2 Green Arrow: Skilled Combatant
Green Arrow, in addition to being a highly skilled archer, is also a highly trained combatant with peak human conditioning, acrobatics, and martial arts training. Consequently, he is more than capable of holding his own in a physical confrontation.
While any fistfight with the Flash will prove challenging (to say the least), Green Arrow’s vast martial arts training and experience will give him a chance.
1 Flash: Speed
Naturally, the most obvious advantage to the Flash is his super-speed. This allows the Flash to not only punch incredibly quickly, allowing the Scarlet Speedster to hit hundreds of punches before anyone may even react, but also charge up a punch by running incredibly fast.
The ridiculous speed of the Flash would be overwhelming for almost any character in the DC Universe, especially those without the powers to handle it. Any fight has the potential to be over in the blink of an eye, with the Flash incapacitating Green Arrow before he can even move.
