Once again The Flash is zipping through time in search of his nemesis Eobard Thawne, the infamous Reverse-Flash. Only this time, he isn't hoping to stop or defeat Thawne... he needs his help to discover a method of defeating the recently introduced villain Paradox.
Paradox is not the only supervillain that The Flash needs to be weary of; with the help of Godspeed a.k.a. August Heart, Paradox's hunger for power will grow ever more as he gathers temporal energy. Writer Joshua Williamson, artist Brandon Peterson, and artist Howard Porter begin The Flash #753 by recalling the many moments where Reverse-Flash's life is taken away by The Flash. Thomas Wayne piercing his back, being disintegrated by Iris West, and the countless moments where the merciless speedster is reliably reborn. The villain may be "A Running Dead Man," but even he can't keep Hell from freezing over when Barry Allen comes looking for his help.
Moving forward in the comic, The Flash tries to find Thawne in the 25th century, but only finds himself being captured by the Black Hole, a criminal organization and soldiers who have been reinstated by the Time Institute and are sent through time to hunt down and capture speedsters. Luckily, a temporal shift occurs, freeing Barry Allen of his bonds, allowing him to run back in time to the 21st century when his mother was killed by The Reverse-Flash in the hopes that he will find his nemesis there.
The Flash #753 takes a sorrowful tone as The Flash arrives in the 21st century and realizes there is nothing he can do to stop Thawne from killing his mother (the last time he did, he created the universe-resetting Flashpoint Paradox). He waits outside his childhood home, with clenched hands, and waits to see red lightning streak across a front window pane like the small burst of a firework. Then, smack! Thawne throws Barry into a nearby tree. Punches are thrown and red and yellow lightning strikes across the panels as the two battle. But it's not long before The Flash has The Reverse-Flash by the neck and Thawne makes an unexpected proposal: the two speedsters collaborate and take on Paradox together, thus saving the Multiverse.
It's clear that if The Flash had any other choice, he would choose to bring the villainous speedster to justice. But he just can't seem to shake Eobard Thawne. He constantly has to relive the death of his mother and the fact that The Reverse-Flash knows how to defeat Paradox, is just another kick to the heart-stricken superhero's face. Find out what happens next in the upcoming issue!
