It seems The Flash movie could still adapt Flashpoint after all - Flickering Myth

When it comes to the term ‘development hell’, Warner Bros. and DC Films’ The Flash movie is starting to look like a dictionary definition, having been passed around directors like a hot potato over the past few years.

However, with It helmer Andy Muschietti now on board and a new July 2022 release date set, it seems the Ezra Miller-headlined solo movie is finally back on track. And, based on comments from Muschietti to That Hashtag Show, it appears the filmmaker has decided to revisit the idea of a Flashpoint adaptation – albeit a “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting.”

In the Flashpoint comic book storyline, Barry Allen found himself in an alternate reality, one where Wonder Woman leads the Amazons in a world war against Aquaman and the Atlanteans, Thomas Wayne has donned the cape and cowl as Batman, and the U.S. government has kept Kal-El hidden away from the sun, preventing him from turning into Superman as an adult.

While The Flash was originally intended as a solo movie for the Scarlet Speedster, it was announced at Comic-Con 2017 that the film would instead adapt Flashpoint, before reverting back to the original plan of a solo film once directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night) came on board.
