At some point in the near future, Wally somehow becomes corrupted by the living embodiment of Famine, which turns him into a ravenous monster completely under its control. Over the years, Wally took away Barry's speed, and subsequently killed several speedsters and family members, gradually causing Barry to be alone. This led Barry to create the singular mission of ending Wally's terror for good, even if it meant severely hurting or even killing him to get the job done. Using several modified weapons and tech from his old Rogues, Barry went to war with Wally/Famine, using the collection of gadgets to great effects, such as The Thinker's thinking cap, Weather Wizard's Wand, Heatwave's heat gun, and more.

However, the coup de grace was Captain Cold's gun, which Barry had modified. While a blast from the gun only temporarily trapped Wally in ice, his melting of it to break out led to his inhalation of the steam, which contained a genetically altered form of Wally's own DNA Barry had created. The altered DNA itself was designed to rapidly race through Wally's body, breaking his entire bone structure so that he could never run again, making him useless to Famine (or so Barry believes). In any case, Barry feels confident that he's won, which is what motivates him to explain what he's done, delivering one of the darkest and most macabre Flash Facts ever.

Unfortunately, Famine would still prove to be the victor in this intense and extremely tragic battle. Famine wanted Barry to defeat Wally, so he could then feed off of Barry's hope above all. However, regardless of all his mistakes, Barry resolves to continue fighting for Wally, even with Famine somehow restoring Wally in spite of the altered DNA.

At the end of the issue, Famine reveals his final stroke against Barry, using Wally's connection to the Speed Force to trap The Flash in a moment outside of time. Now, Barry is forced to roam the world as a helpless witness to all the chaos Famine will wreak with Wally, all while he feeds off of Barry's cycles of renewed and lost hope to one day break free from his new prison. All in all, it's a terrible existence for Barry Allen in DC's Future State. "Hopefully", The Flash will be able to escape and save Wally for good, and will never have to share a Flash Fact as dark as the one he did in this issue from DC Comics ever again.
