As many as 165,000 Walmart employees will soon be receiving a raise.

America’s largest retailer announced it was raising wages for many jobs from $11 to $15 per hour. Some positions – including leadership roles in Supercenter locations – will see pay increase up to $30 per hour.

The change comes as Walmart is changing its structure to create small teams of associates who will be cross-trained in different areas, according to the announcement by Dacona Smith, Chief Operating Officer, Walmart U.S. Each store will be lead by team leaders who will work to develop employees as opposed to only handling tasks, the company said.

“This new structure is built around higher-skilled jobs of the future, and the compensation for those roles reflects that,” Smith said.

Minimum wages for team leads will start at $18 and rise to as much as $30. Wages for workers in the deli and bakery area will increase from $11 to $15 an hour. Base pay for staffers in auto care centers will increase about $1 an hour.

The wage changes will take place in October and replaces annual increases that the store has typically offered in February or April.
