The Flash: 10 Biggest Changes Crisis On Infinite Earths Made - Screen Rant

DC's Crisis on Infinite Earths, which saw the death and rebirth of the multiverse thanks to Oliver Queen's sacrifice, was undoubtedly the Arrowverse's biggest crossover so far, the events of which changed a lot of things and reset the status quo for every show involved.

While each show was impacted, one that was affected the most was The Flash. So, while there are a lot of things that are different on the show now, here are the ten biggest changes Crisis On Infinite Earths made to The Flash.

10 Throwing Lightning

Each season, as Barry continues to use his powers, he learns different ways to harness them to deal with new threats. One of those new skills Barry learned was how to throw lightning, which he was originally taught by Hunter Zolomon masquerading as Jay Garrick in season 2. However, after Crisis, it's shown that Barry was throwing lightning as early as season 1 using the trick against Hartley Rathaway aka Pied Piper and his henchmen which caused his boyfriend to be injured for years.

9 The Last Wells

Tom Cavanagh as Nash Wells on The Flash

Since season 1, every season of the Flash has introduced Tom Cavanaugh as a new version, or several new versions, of Harrison Wells from other Earths. However, that all seemed to changed following Crisis when it was revealed that all the versions of Wells from the other Earths now inhabit one body, the one belonging to Nash Wells. For the majority of season 6, Nash has been dealing with the visions he had been receiving of the others and the guilt for his role in destroying the multiverse and its unknown if we'll see the other Wells' again.

8 Crisis On Earth-X

Earth-X Arrowverse Villains

Crisis on Earth-X was the 4th Arrowverse crossover event and saw a group of Nazis, led by Reverse-Flash along with doppelgangers of Green Arrow and Supergirl, crash Barry and Iris' wedding.

After Crisis on Infinite Earths, the history of the event was changed so that it was actually time-traveling clones that invaded the prime-earth.

7 Zoom

Hunter Zolomon aka Zoom was the main antagonist during the second season of the show. Originally Zolomon was from Earth-2 and traveled to Earth-1 and pretended to be Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-3, in order to get close to Barry and attempt to steal his speed for himself. Due to Crisis, Zoom was actually from Earth-Prime and instead of racing against Barry, Zoom marched on Central City with an army of other metahumans but was ultimately defeated.

6 New Locations

Arrowverse Gorilla City

Another major result of the event was that several locations that had only previously existed on other Earths, now reside on Earth-Prime with the two biggest examples being Atlantis and Gorilla City. Gorilla City is where Grodd and other apes live but since he and Barry have made amends, it doesn't seem like he'll be much of a threat in the future. Atlantis which was previously on Earth-2 was often presented as a tourism/vacation spot and it being set on Earth-Prime opens the door for Aquaman to potentially show up in the future. In addition, National City, where Supergirl protects and Freeland, which is where Black Lightning is the guardian of are also now on Earth-Prime meaning that crossover between the shows will now all likely happen on just one Earth.

5 The Multiverse

For years, the film and TV side of DC had been kept separate from one another with the films often restricting the use of characters in the Arrowverse. That all changed during Crisis when the Barry Allen played by Ezra Miller met the Barry Allen played by Grant Gustin.

The two admire each other's suits and Ezra's Barry even gets the name the Flash from meeting Grant's version who has had the title for longer. Its a short interaction but a meaningful one as it marks a major change for not only the Flash show but for DC overall.

4 Shifted Places

While there are major locations that were added to Earth-Prime by Crisis, there are also much smaller aspects of the new Earth's landscape that are different as well. At the start of episode 13 of season 6, "Grodd Friended Me ", Barry is shown with roses looking for his parent's graves. It wouldn't be revealed until later in the episode that Chester had found the location of the cemetery where they were buried and that it had moved as a result of the Earth being restored.

3 The Legends' Formation

The Legends are a team of heroes and villains that were assembled by Rip Hunter with the main goal of traveling through time and stopping Vandal Savage before he could achieve world domination in 2166 resulting in the death of his wife and son. Originally the Legends formed in 2016 but then it was revealed by Cisco that was also changed and they actually formed a year earlier in 2015.

2 Old Villains

Once the team started to settle after the event, Cisco revealed the return of many of the Flash's past villains which he had been keeping a "who's who?" binder of. Some were changed to be meta-humans like Bug-Eyed Bandit and Abra Kadabra and others were even brought back from the dead like, one of which being Hannibal Bates aka Everyman, who was killed back in season 1 by Joe after he threatened to hurt Cisco while imitating Eobard Thawne.

1 The Speedforce Is Dead

The biggest effect the events of Crisis had on the Flash was the death of the speed force. In the episode when Wally came back to visit, he revealed that the speed force was dying. The death came as a result of Oliver Queen, as Spectre, boosting Barry's abilities in order to free himself and the others from the Vanishing Point. The absence of the speed force played a major role in the sixth season, causing Barry to have to try and preserve the remaining bit it in his system and has prompted Team Flash to attempt and create their own artificial version like Thawne had used.
