5 Underrated Flash Villains We Want To See More Of (& 5 Who Can Stay Away) - CBR - Comic Book Resources

Heroes like Batman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men are all known for having some of the best rogues galleries in all of comics and a hero who can definitely join that illustrious group is the Flash. His Rogues are some of the best villains in comics- a group of villains with a sense of honor, most of them treat their villainy as job with rules to follow and everything.

The Flash has some truly great villains but some get way more spotlight than others, which is a tragedy because of just how many wonderful villains the Scarlet Speedster can face. Which underrated Flash villains need more spotlight and which ones need a break?

10 See More Of: Weather Wizard

Weather Wizard is a simple villain whose gimmick is right there in his name- he controls the weather. Using a wand he created, he can throw all kinds of inclement weather at the Flash and he has a super cool costume to boot.

Weather Wizard has been fighting the Flash with the Rogues for a long time, battling both Barry Allen and Wally West. However, he hasn't got a lot of spotlight in recent years and that's sort of unfair to such a cool villain. Weather manipulation is a great power, he has a great look, and it's about time he gets more of chance to shine, instead of just hanging out with the Rogues all the time.

9 Stay Away: Murmur

Murmur DC

Murmur is a grimdark villain from the '00s that battled Wally West while he was the Flash. A surgeon who went insane, Murmur survived a lethal injection and then cut out his tongue to keep himself from confessing to any more crimes. He looks like a refugee from a nu-metal video.

Murmur doesn't really fit in at all with any of Flash's villains. He's much more like a Batman villain- a psychopath who likes to kill. He doesn't have any kind of gimmick or powers that can allow him to stand up to the Flash in any way, he's just crazy. He hasn't been seen in a long time and that's a good thing- creators should keep it that way.

8 See More Of: Trickster

Trickster has always been a second string Rogue. Over the years, there have been two of them- the classic Silver Age one and a newer edgier one. Both of them use a variety of trick weapons based on old school toys and such to bedevil the Flash. The better of the two is the original- Jesse James.

The Trickster is an interesting villain. Recently empowered by the Strength Force, Trickster is back to normal and that's okay. His bag of tricks makes him a cool villain that the right creative team could use to battle the Flash and his years of experience as a costumed criminal, as well as his trademark sense of humor makes him an interesting foil.

7 Stay Away: Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd is one of the Flash's most savage enemies, using his massive strength and telepathic abilities to negate the Flash's amazing powers. The sometimes monarch of Gorilla City, Grodd is known for his taste for human flesh and using armies of mind controlled gorilla troops to ruin everyone's day.

Recently hanging out with the Legion of Doom, Grodd needs to go away for a while. Often times, it feels like creators don't really know what to do with Grodd but want to use him. Grodd is a serious threat and using him too much or in stories that aren't worthy of him cheapens just how dangerous he is. Give him some time out of the limelight and then he can come back with an all new ferocity.

6 See More Of: Mirror Master

Mirror Master Brian Bolland

Mirror Master is another Rogue that there have been two versions of but the superior is definitely the second one, Evan McCulloch. A Scottish mercenary who got his hands on the gear of the original Mirror Master, McCulloch has made the mantle his own, becoming a fan favorite Rogue and eclipsing his predecessor.

Mirror Master is sort of always around but he hasn't really gotten a chance to make any big moves on his own in a long time and that needs to change. Easily one of Flash's most entertaining and dangerous Rogues, Mirror Master is ready for his close-up.

5 Stay Away: Captain Boomerang

Captain Boomerang went through something of a renaissance for a few years. However, he's mostly been busy elsewhere. A long time member of the Suicide Squad, he's served with several iterations of the team. While he's an old school Rogue, he hasn't really hung out with his old gang in a while and that's honestly not a bad thing.

Captain Boomerang has made a niche for himself and has grown beyond his roots as a Flash villain. There's nothing wrong with him continuing on that path and keeping him away from getting jobbed out to the Fastest Man Alive.

4 See More Of: Heatwave

Heatwave is another Rogue who always been one of the lower profile ones. For a time, he was a good guy, his mind controlled by the reformed villain, the Top. During that time, he clashed the most with Captain Cold because fire and ice and all that. Once he broke his programming, he rejoined the Rogues but always gunned for the top spot.

A schism in the Rogues, led by Heatwave, would be a perfect spanner to throw into the works for the Flash. Splitting them up, with Heatwave versus Cold with the Flash in the middle is a great idea, one that can pay dividends.

3 Stay Away: Captain Cold

The de facto leader of the Rogues, Captain Cold is the kind of villain that could very well be a lame Silver Age throwback but there's just something about him. Len Snart is a villain with a code of honor, leading the Rogues in their heists with way more care than anyone would imagine. His cold gun and years of experience makes him a formidable foe for the Flash.

There's nothing wrong with Captain Cold- he's a great villain, one of the best in the DC Universe. However, it's time for other Rogues to shine and Captain Cold overshadows the others.

2 See More Of: Zoom

Zoom was Wally West's Reverse Flash. Wally and Hunter Zolomon were friends but when Hunter asked Wally to go back in time and change things for him, Wally refused. Hunter tried himself and became Zoom, gaining the power to speed up or slow down time around him, making him faster than any speedster. Zoom would clash with Wally and was most recently the instigator of the Flash War.

Zoom and Barry have rarely fought but Zoom's unique powers would put Barry's skills to the test. Zoom's whole thing is that he's trying to make heroes better and Barry would be a perfect target for his improvement.

1 Stay Away: Reverse Flash

Reverse Flash is Barry's greatest enemy and one of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe. Empowered by the Negative Speed Force, Reverse Flash is as insane as he is fast and that's a huge problem for anyone he faces. Plus, with his time traveling abilities, even if he's thought dead it's guaranteed that another version of him is just around the corner to make Flash's life difficult.

Reverse Flash is a great villain but since his and Barry's return, he's been around a lot. There's nothing special about him anymore and fans have gotten used to him. It's time for him to return to the timestream or something and let some other villains have a turn.
