The Flash: The Worst Ship In Each Season | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

The Flashmuch like the other Arrowverse shows, is largely driven in its narrative by the relationships that form. Fans of the show have gotten on board with this concept, shipping various couples that they feel would really work out long-term. However, some of these simply wouldn't work though.

Whether it's because of the storyline the characters eventually go on, the lack of chemistry between the individuals, or a villainous turn that could have completely shifted the dynamic of the team, these ships were perhaps better left on the cutting room floor; even if the showrunners had teased them at some stage.

Season 1: Barry Allen And Felicity Smoak

Barry Allen and Felicity Smoak may have boasted some chemistry and there was even a push clearly within the story team that the two may end up in some kind of relationship together. Fans shipped them, but ultimately a coupling of the pair simply wouldn't have worked out.

For one, they were facing very different threats in very different cities and both Felicity and Barry respectively are moments away from their soulmates; Oliver Queen for the former and Iris West for the latter. Secondly, Felicity has been in some intriguing storylines before but she never quite fit into Team Flash, instead clearly belonging amongst the Arrow group.

Season 2: Jay Garrick And Caitlin Snow

Jay Garrick was introduced to the show as the Flash of Earth-2. This version of the Crimson Comet immediately made a connection with Caitlin Snow, whose fans wanted to find happiness after her previous heartbreak in season 1. Audiences shipped the pair just as the showrunners wanted them to.

However, the villainous turn of Garrick (which confirmed that he was actually the comic book antagonist of Hunter Zoloman/Zoom) demonstrated that the shipping was absolutely misplaced. With Snow's life on the line, she would work alongside Team Flash to eventually defeat this imposter, thus firmly putting an end to any romantic potential.

Season 3: Julian Albert And Barry Allen

Julian Albert and Caitlin Snow were the couple in season 3 that the showrunners wanted fans to get behind, yet instead, audiences began to ship Albert with Barry Allen as Snow continued to go through her killer transformation. The reason was clear, as the two rivals began to break down their boundaries and open up to one another.

However, both were very much enthralled in their own romantic stories though, with Caitlin and Iris respectively. It wouldn't have worked either since Julian eventually disappeared from the show without much explanation and was struggling with his Doctor Alchemist alter-ego. It just fell apart at the seams.

Season 4: Caitlin Snow And Cisco Ramon

Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon are best friends and have worked alongside one another for years. They are integral to S.T.A.R. Labs and Team Flash in particular as they attempted to control their powers while also learning to become heroes.

Fans have shipped them across multiple seasons, even as Cisco begins to connect with Cynthia or Kamilla. However, they were like family and were better off as friends since TV shows need to reflect these beautiful relationships too.

Season 5: Joslyn Jackam And Nora West-Allen

Nora with the Young Rogues in the Flash

Joslyn Jackam is the daughter of Weather Wizard and took on the identity of Weather Witch amongst the Young Rogues. Nora West-Allen or XS joined the Young Rogues briefly and shared a complex relationship with Jos. However, it didn't take long before fans began to ship these super descendants together.

Sadly, these kinds of villain and hero romances never ultimately work out. Once the Multiverse is wiped out, Jackam returns as Weather Witch and doesn't have that same bond with Nora (which gave her a vigilante edge). This antagonistic turn further goes to show that the ship was perhaps in vain despite how perfect they could have been in a different timeline.

Season 6: Iris West And Eva McCulloch

Iris and Eva in the Mirrorverse in the Flash

Iris West and Eva McCulloch were trapped in the Mirroverse together, seemingly unable to return to regular reality. They bonded during their time there and fans began to ship them, especially since Iris was never going to be able to be coupled up with Barry again.

Of course, the ship was definitely one of the worst considering Eva's true intentions and eventual turn as Mirror Monarch. Iris continued to show great bravery, even when she began to lose sight of the reality she was stuck within and Eva clearly had some sympathy for what West-Allen was going through. This was nowhere near enough to really support a ship.

Season 7: Sue Dearbon And Ralph Dibny

Hartley Sawyer as Ralph Dibny Elongated Man Natalie Dreyfuss as Sue Dearbon In a Car The Flash

Sue Dearbon and Ralph Dibny are seemingly destined to be together thanks to the source material of DC Comics. Flash has slowly brought the pair together and fans have even been shipping them. But there really is very little in the way of chemistry between the pair.

Dibny's departure from the series only convolutes matters further and Sue's continued erratic actions mean it's difficult to determine which side she really falls on. Ultimately, a ship between these two feels as insincere as the relationship itself which looks to be falling apart rapidly.
