The CW Shifts The Flash to a New Night for 2022 | CBR - CBR - Comic Book Resources

The CW is giving The Flash a new slot for 2022.

Season 8 of The Flash premieres Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. However, following the midseason finale, the show will shift to Wednesdays beginning March 9, 2022.

The Flash Season 8 will kick off with a five-part "Armageddon" event. "Simply put, these are going to be some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever," The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace said when the event was announced in August. "And we're doing them on a scale that's bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes. So yes, 'Armageddon' is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It's going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can't wait for audiences to see what we've got planned."

In addition to the core members of Team Flash, "Armageddon" will feature familiar Arrowverse heroes such as Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom, Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers/Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen and Osric Chau as Ryan Choi/The Atom, as well villains like Tom Cavanaugh's Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Neal McDonough's Damien Darhk. The event will also bring longtime DC villain Despero into the Arrowverse, marking the character's first live-action appearance, and both Jay Garrick and Eddie Thawne are poised to return to the series as well.

"The idea for The Flash is [showrunner] Eric Wallace and [executive producer Greg Berlanti] have come together, and we're talking about other superheroes from the CW-verse that will come together in each individual episodes," The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz said in May when "Armageddon" was first teased. "It will not quite be a crossover, but it will have a crossover-type feel with the introduction of all these characters."

Season 8 of The Flash also continues the show's tradition of improving upon Barry Allen's suit. This time, that improvement comes in the form of a pair of comics-accurate gold boots. Grant Gustin recently described the footwear as "the final element that’s been missing. I’ve loved all the versions of The Flash suit we’ve had on the show, but the suit we have now is the closest to the many iterations you see in the comic books—with the exception of those gold boots! I’ve always felt that those boots would be the final touch."

The Flash Season 8 premieres Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
