WARNING: The following contains spoilers for DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 7, Episode 7, "A Woman's Place is in the War Effort!," which aired Wednesday, November 24th on The CW.
The Flash "Armageddon" is the first Arrowverse crossover event since last year's massive "Crisis on Infinite Earths." While previous crossovers jumped between shows, "Armageddon" will be fully contained within The Flash's Season 8, bringing heroes from shows that ended such as Jefferson Pierce's Black Lightning, Alex Danvers from Supergirl, Ray Palmer from both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow and Mia Smoak, who returns as the Green Arrow after Green Arrow and the Canaries failed to get a series order. Despite this, the Legends of Tomorrow managed to sneak themselves into the crossover -- albeit 81 years too early.
For those not caught up on the Legends of Tomorrow, the team spent the first half of the season stranded in 1925 and had been trying to get back to the present with the help of Dr. Gwynn Davies, the father of time travel. There were a few bumps in the road, including a stop in 1986's Chernobyl Disaster and another stop in 1940s America. While in the 40s, co-captains and wives Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe stumbled upon an airbase filled with women building aircraft for World War II. The airbase is one that many Arrowverse and DC fans can recognize from a mile away, as it is the Hall of Justice, the headquarters for the Justice League in almost every media.
The Hall of Justice in the Arrowverse (while not officially named) was introduced in the crossover event "Invasion!" as a training and operating base for the superheroes during their fight with the Dominators. The hangar was revealed to be previously owned by Eobard Thawne while he was living as Harrison Wells and was given to Barry Allen following Eobard's "death." Barry revealed that the hangar is a secret, as no one knows about it other than Barry and his team. Following "Invasion!" Barry got the idea to do more with the hangar.
It wasn't until "Crisis on Infinite Earths" that Barry decided to put this idea to action. After finally defeating the Anti-Monitor, the heroes all met at the hangar to hold a memorial service for Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. Barry revealed that he had a table installed in the hangar along with chairs that were monogrammed with the emblems of the major heroes. He saw a need for a heroes' headquarters in case another major cosmic or space-related threat came to Earth. It is already proving to be useful in the "Armageddon" crossover, which brings Despero to the playing field and predicts a full apocalyptic event caused by Barry Allen himself.
While the Legends of Tomorrow were 81 years in the past, the use of the hangar as a major location for the episode was a great nod to The Flash, as the Legends have a history of rejecting or hating on the crossovers, with a back and forth between the Legends of Tomorrow and the other heroes when the Legends were asked to help out in the "Elseworlds" story but rejected it. In turn, the heroes refused to help the Legends during the "Heyworld" event as payback. But, to be fair, during the "Elseworlds" event, the Legends were going through their own temporal crisis with John Constantine failing to hack time for his benefit.
They might not be in the crossover but they still have a heavy fight ahead of them, as the Legends of Tomorrow are set to return to The CW on January 12, 2022.
